The new trailer for 'Yogi Bear'

Yogi Bear

Here's the brand-new trailer for Eric Brevig's upcoming 3D flick "Yogi Bear," and to tell you the truth, it still looks kind of weird in terms of the whole live-action/CG mix. "Yogi Bear" opens Dec. 17, 2010.

The story follows a documentary filmmaker who has an encounter with Yogi at Jellystone Park. Dan Aykroyd voices Yogi and Justin Timberlake does Boo-Boo. Anna Faris and Tom Cavanagh co-star.

Eric Brevig also helmed the 3D adventure "Journey to the Center of the Earth." I don't think the world needs a "Yogi Bear" film, but then again, this looks like it can attract youngsters looking for a cheap laugh.

First 'Yogi Bear' teaser trailer hits the web

Just yesterday we got a first look at the poster for Eric Brevig's upcoming 3D flick "Yogi Bear," and today, we're in for the first teaser trailer. The film won't open until Dec. 17, 2010, but check out the teaser.

The film is a mix of CGI and live action, and I have to admit that combination hasn't always worked that well until now. Remember those horrid "Garfield" movies? That said, let's hope they will get it right.

I'm still not convinced the the look of the CG bears, but at least it looks like "Yogi Bear" is filled with silly family fun. Dan Aykroyd voiced Yogi and Justin Timberlake does Boo-Boo. Anna Faris co-stars.

Here's the first poster for 'Yogi Bear'

The first poster for Eric Brevig's upcoming "Yogi Bear" movie is now online, so give it a look down below. The mix of CGI and live action will open Dec. 17, 2010. Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake lead the cast.

Aykroyd is Yogi, and Timberlake voices Boo-Boo. Cast also includes Anna Faris and Tom Cavanagh. The story follows a documentary filmmaker who has an encounter with Yogi at Jellystone Park.

I'm not a fan of these combinations of CG and live action, but hey, I'm willing to give it another shot now that the technologies have improved a bit. Brevig also helmed "Journey to the Center of the Earth."

Tom Cavanagh to play Ranger Smith in 'Yogi'

Tom Cavanagh has officially boarded Eric Brevig's upcoming "Yogi Bear" film for Warner Bros. He's joining Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake. The film is currently shooting in New Zealand.

Variety says Cavanagh will play Ranger Smith in the mix of CGI and live-action. Brad Copeland wrote the script. Cavanagh's Smith finds himself drawn romantically to Faris' role of a documentary filmmaker.

Aykroyd voices Yogi, and Timberlake lends his voice to Boo-Boo, Yogi's partner in crime. Cavanagh's credits include "Ed," "Trust Me," "Eli Stone," "Scrubs" and "How to Eat Fried Worms."

Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd set for 'Yogi Bear'

Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake are the first to join the cast of Eric Brevig's upcoming "Yogi Bear" film for Warner Bros., which is prepping the project for a December shoot.

"Bear" will be a mix of CGI and live-action, much in the same way as the recent "Alvin and the Chipmunks" and "Garfield," two films that absolutely sucked (and looked terrible). It will be shot in 3D.

Eric Brevig to direct Yogi Bear flick

Eric Brevig is set to direct Warner Bros.' upcoming big-screen version of the popular Hanna-Barbera classic cartoon "Yogi Bear."

Ash Brannon was originally attached to helm "Yogi," but I have no word on why exactly he left the project, which the Hollywood Reporter says will be shot in 3D.

The trade reports the project will be a mix of CGI and live-action, much in the same way as the recent “Alvin and the Chipmunks.” In other words, Yogi and Boo-Boo will probably be computer-animated.

Brevig made his directorial debut recently with "Journey to the Center of the Earth." He also worked as visual effects supervisor on films like "Men in Black" and "The Day After Tomorrow."

Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia are writing the script.

FYI, Yogi Bear first appeared in “The Huckleberry Hound Show” before getting his own show in 1961.

Yogi, Boo-Boo to make big-screen debut

Warner Bros. is set to develop a big-screen version of the popular Hanna-Barbera classic cartoon “Yogi Bear,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Ash Brannon, co-director of “Surf’s Up,” is directing the project, which Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia (“Tooth Fairy”) are writing.

The trade reports the project will be a mix of CGI and live-action, much in the same way as the recent “Alvin and the Chipmunks.” In other words, Yogi and Boo-Boo will be computer-animated.

Yogi Bear first appeared in “The Huckleberry Hound Show” before getting his own show in 1961.

This definitely sounds like a nice idea, although I am not sure the CGI/live-action mix is such an awesome idea. Those chipmunks in “Alvin” just looked like crap to me. Let’s hope they put more effort into this.
