Hugh Jackman says 'Wolverine 2' will be great

Hugh Jackman seemed to be in a good mood when Vulture recently caught up with him and asked him about his upcoming sequel "X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2," which Darren Aronofsky is going to direct.

"It’s going to be the best one, I hope," he said. "Well, I would say that, but I really do feel that, and I feel this is going to be very different." Different sounds goos, because the first one could've been better...

On Aronofsky directing, Jackman said, "[Aronofsky’s] going to make it fantastic. There’s going to be some meat on the bones. There will be something to think about as you leave the theater, for sure.”

Christopher McQuarrie ("The Usual Suspects") wrote the script, and the story follows Logan (Jackman) in Japan, where he kicks off a romance with a woman promised to another dude. Shooting begins 2011.

Darren Aronofsky to direct 'Wolverine 2'?

Okay, so Darren Aronofsky ("The Wrestler") wasn't picked to direct the new "Superman" as we now know, but apparently, he's got a shot at helming "X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2." That's what Vulture says.

The site says folks at 20th Century Fox have offered Aronofsky the gig. The thing is that the director has a bunch of other offers as well, which means we know anything for sure until he makes a decision.

Another project Aronofsky is looking at is "Tales from the Gangster Squad," which Warner offered to Ben Affleck. Vulture says Affleck passed on that one, and now the studio wants Aronofsky on the case.

Will David Slade direct 'Wolverine' sequel?

It looks like two directors are still in the race for 20th Century Fox's upcoming "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" sequel: David Slade ("The Twilight Saga: Eclipse") and Robert Schwentke ("The Time Traveler's Wife").

Vulture reports though that a source close to the project has mentioned that Slade will be the one taking the job. Slade's credits also include the amusing horror flick "30 Days of Night" and "Hard Candy."

Christopher McQuarrie wrote the first draft, and the story follows Logan (Hugh Jackman) in Japan, where he kicks off a romance with a woman promised to another dude. Looks like the film will arrive in 2012.

'Wolverine' sequel will likely shoot in 2011

This is not much of a big update, but Hugh Jackman recently revealed that filming for the sequel to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" will most likely kick off next year. "Wolverine's going to be back. He's going to Japan. We shoot that probably in a year, year-and-a-half, something like that," Jackman said in a video recorded at the stupid People's Choice Awards.

Christopher McQuarrie to write 'Wolverine 2'

It's been a decent week for news about the sequel to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," and here's the latest: Christopher McQuarrie is set to write the script for Fox's follow-up.

McQuarrie won an Oscar for his "The Usual Suspects" screenplay, and he most recently wrote "Valkyrie" for Bryan Singer. He also wrote and directed 2000's "The Way of the Gun."

As Hugh Jackman announced recently, the sequel will be based on the series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, which was published in 1982. Wolverine will head to Japan this time.

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine," which Gavin Hood directed, proved to be quite successful at the box office earlier this year after pulling almost $180 million domestically.

Hugh Jackman briefly talks 'Wolverine' sequel

Hugh Jackman talks Wolverine sequel

Gavin Hood's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" proved to be quite successful at the box office after pulling almost $180 million domestically, so it's no surprise that a sequel to the action film is already in development. In fact, talks for "Wolverine 2" already emerged last year.

Last thing we heard Hugh Jackman was already all set to return as the title character, and now the actor has briefly updated his fans on where they are with "Wolverine 2."

At the Teen Choice Awards, where "Wolverine" took home a prize, Jackman mentioned Logan will be heading to Japan in the sequel.

"Japan is where we're heading, [and] we're starting to work on it now. We're in the ... first steps of developing that story," he told MTV backstage.
