Yes, it's true. Twentieth Century Fox has won the legal war against Warner Bros. over what studio owns the distribution rights to Zack Snyder's upcoming "Watchmen."
What does that mean for the film's scheduled March 6, 2009? Well, don't panic quite yet. It's still too early to determine what will happen, but according to the New York Times, the judge issuing the ruling "advised both Fox and Warner to look toward a settlement or an appeal."
Variety posted this excerpt from the ruling: “Fox owns a copyright interest consisting of, at the very least, the right to distribute the ‘Watchmen’ motion picture.”
Fox filed the lawsuit against Warner Bros. in February. As I just mentioned, let's not freak out quite yet. More details about the ruling will be released soon, and I'm sure the studios will release statements of their own soon enough as well.
But wow, what a surprise, huh? This one popped up out of nowhere.
