Virginia Madsen to produce ski jumper documentary

Virginia Madsen has done a couple of crappy projects (including her latest "The Haunting in Connecticut"), but I forgive her. She still rocks and I particularly love her in "Sideways."

Anyway, according to Variety, Madsen is set to produce "Fighting Gravity," a documentary about 15 athletes trying to get the International Olympic Committee to allow women ski jumpers to compete in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

The fact alone the IOC banned women from taking part in the sport is just stupid, of course, and I can only hope somebody gets to slam some sense into these people's heads. Time to realize we are indeed living in the 21st century.

Madsen, whose recent credits include "The Number 23" and "The Astronaut Farmer," will also soon appear in "Amelia." "Fighting Gravity" is already in production, by the way.

'The Haunting in Connecticut' web reviews

Here's another horror flick supposedly based on true events or something. Hmmm... Anyway, Peter Cornwell's "The Haunting in Connecticut" follows an innocent family moving into a haunted house. Virginia Madsen, Amanda Crew, Kyle Gallner, Martin Donovan and Elias Koteas star. Here's what online critics have to say about it:

Latino Review's Ron Henriques: "This is one of those films you watch and wonder 'Why don't they just get out of the house?' Because the characters are stupid that's why."

CinemaBlend's Mack Rawden: "'The Haunting In Connecticut' forgets many of the horror clichés we’ve come to expect, but unfortunately, it replaces many of those irritating unoriginalities with generic plotlines more common to film in general."

Cinematical's William Goss: "For the twenty-, thirty-, forty-somethings who've seen any other movie with the word 'Haunting' in the title, there's not much new here in terms of frights, but if you'd been sold on all of those anyway, there's probably nothing stopping you anyway."

• Joblo's Arrow in the Head: "The outcome for this twat was that no matter how many FEAR PLOYS this one bombarded me with afterwards, be it via blurry shots, SAW-ish tight edition or mucho white flashes; I couldn’t be bothered to care."

RopeOfSilicon's Brad Brevet: "'The Haunting in Connecticut' is hardly a bad film, it just isn't a film that manages to accomplish anything more than mediocrity."

Awesome 'Haunting in Connecticut' motion poster

I'm not yet sure what to make of the footage I've seen of "The Haunting in Connecticut," but the film's latest motion poster is totally cool.

Animated posters are a great online marketing tool, and we've alreay seen a couple of awesome creations over the past months (check out one for "Terminator Salvation" right here).

The film charts one family's terrifying, real-life encounter with the dark forces of the supernatural.

When the Campbell family moves to upstate Connecticut, they soon learn that their charming Victorian home has a disturbing history: not only was the house a transformed funeral parlor where inconceivable acts occurred, but the owner's clairvoyant son Jonah served as a demonic messenger, providing a gateway for spiritual entities to crossover.

Now unspeakable terror awaits, when Jonah, the boy who communicated with the dead, returns to unleash a new kind of horror on the innocent and unsuspecting family.

Peter Cornwell directed the horror flick, which stars Virginia Madsen, Brooklynn Proulx, Elias Koteas, Kyle Gallner, Martin Donovan.

Check the poster put below, and check out "Haunting in Connecticut" in theaters March 27, 2009.

'Haunting in Connecticut' trailer premieres

MTV just premiered the first trailer for Peter Cornwell’s upcoming “The Haunting in Connecticut,” a horror flick starring Virginia Madsen, Elias Koteas, Kyle Gallner, Amanda Crew and Martin Donovan.

The story couldn’t sound more familiar: a family moves into a new house only to discover the place is haunted. Oh yeah, we just can’t get enough of them, right?

Anyway, check out the trailer after the jump, and let me know what you think. The footage didn’t win me over, especially because I’ve seen this kind of story too many times already. Here come those cheap shock effects.
