Watch three explosive 'Revenge of the Fallen' spots

We're just a little more than a month away from the release date of Michael Bay's anticipated action sequel "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," and Paramount is stepping up promotion a bit by releasing new television spots. You can find three new ones after the jump, and although most of what you see here comes straight from previous trailers, you'll see a second or two here and there of new footage.

Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Rainn Wilson, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro star in the sequel, which opens in conventional theaters and IMAX June 24, 2009. Love him or hate him, but Bay has delivered a top-notch action blockbuster with "Transformers," and something tells me this follow-up will deliver twice as much robots and explosions. I'm really craving that right now.

Review: "Death Race"

Seen on: August 22, 2008

The players: Director: Paul W.S. Anderson, Writer: Paul W.S. Anderson, Cast: Jason Statham, Joan Allen, Ian McShane, Tyrese Gibson, Natalie Martinez

Facts of interest: Based on 1975's "Death Race 2000."

The plot: A man (Statham) is framed for his wife's murder and forced to participate in a brutal car race in which drivers must kill each other on the road to victory.

Our quick thoughts: For the most part, Paul W.S. Anderson’s “Death Race” offers you exactly what the trailer and TV spots promised: brutal, fast-paced car racing. That’s what you should expect if you plan to see the flick, because that’s all you get for the price of admission. Surprisingly, “Race” is not that bad of a big-screen experience. It’s utterly brainless, sure, but it’s also efficient enough to offer some of you a darn good time.

Short takes: 'Poltergeist' remake script details

• "Poltergeist" is the latest to go through the remake machine, and according to Variety, Stiles White and Juliet Snowden will write the script for MGM. The two also collaborated on the screenplays for Alex Proyas' "Knowing" and Martin Campbell's "The Birds."

LatinoReview recently talked to Tyrese Gibson, who said he'll be involved in the upcoming big-screen version of "The A-Team." Now the question remains who he's going to play. B.A. Baracus, maybe? As far as I know, Ice Cube is also in the race to star in the role that once belonged to Mr. T. We'll see who wins the race.

• In a recent interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Russell Crowe said he's eyeing the main role in a biopic about American comedian Bill Hicks, who died of cancer at the age of 32. Crowe will next star in "Body of Lies."

• Dean Cain, Conrad Janis, Stephen Lunsford and Walter Phelan are only a few to join Michael Emanuel's directorial debut "Maneater," a horror flick about an ex-FBI profiler and a sheriff who investigate mysterious murders. THR says the flick is based on a Native American legend.
