The trailer for 'The Rite' with Anthony Hopkins

Anthony Hopkins in The Rite

Anthony Hopkins stars in Mikael Hafstrom's upcoming supernatural thriller "The Rite," which hits theaters Jan. 28, 2011. The first trailer for the film has debuted online, and you can check it out after the jump.

Film follows seminary student Michael Kovak (Colin O'Donoghue), who attends exorcism school at the Vatican. While in Rome, Father Lucas (Hopkins) introduces him to the darker side of his faith.

Yeah, looks like another one of those devil films, and to tell you the truth, I'm not exactly into that stuff. That said, I'm more than willing to give it a fair chance, provided it can deliver solid scares. We shall see...

By the way, Michael Petroni ("Queen of the Damned," "Possession") penned the script. Hafstrom also helmed the so-so "1408" and disastrous thriller "Derailed." Man, that really was a bad film, wasn't it?
