Smile! New 'Ghost Protocol' clip boasts humor

A new clip from Brad Bird's new "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" adventure has surfaced on the Web, and it features Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg having quite the humorous discussion about an upcoming mission. Be advised, this one contains witty dialogue.

"Protocol," the latest and probably not the last installment in the series also stars Tom Cruise, who will sort of pass on the torch to Renner. If this flick succeeds at the box office, and I believe it will, Renner could take over in future sequels. Also part of the cast: Paula Patton.

Besides the crazy action and freakingly awesome stunts, one thing I am looking forward to in this flick is the acting. "Protocol" features a strong cast, and the clip above strongly suggests the performances will make this an even more enjoyable experience.

"Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" infiltrates theaters Dec. 21, 2011, and I am ready!

Hottie Amber Heard moves to 'Motor City'

Amber Heard, who looks ridiculously good in pretty much any flick she's in, moves to "Motor City." The actress from Texas has scored the female lead in the revenge movie, this according to Mike Fleming. I generally don't mind Amber Heard casting news at all, so thanks Mike.

Anyway, "Motor City" will star Dominic Cooper ("Captain America: The First Avenger") as a man who is released from prison and decides the best thing to do first is to hunt down everyone who framed him. Chad St. John wrote the script, and Albert Hughes ("the Book of Eli," "From Hell") is on board to direct.

Heard's most recent onscreen role was in "The Rum Diary." She also looked sharp and kicked some serious ass in "Drive Angry," and other credits include "The Ward," "The Joneses," "Pineapple Express" (I'm still drooling) and the shitty "Remember the Daze." In case you didn't already notice, I am a fan...

New explosive trailer for 'Killer Elite'

The brand-new trailer for Gary McKendry's upcoming action thriller "Killer Elite" has debuted online, and you can check it out after the jump. Looks like a mixture of "Shoot Em Up" and "Crank" or something. Either way, it looks pretty explosive.

When his mentor (Robert De Niro) is taken captive, a retired member of Britain's Elite Special Air Service (Jason Statham) is forced into action. His mission: kill three assassins dispatched by their cunning leader (Clive Owen). The flick drops Sept. 23, 2011.

As I mentioned above, "Killer Elite" promises fast-paced action and some sick stunts. That said, could Clive Owen please lose the mustache? "Elite" marks McKendry's feature film debut, by the way. Congrats on scoring quite the compelling cast.

Action-packed trailer for 'Haywire' arrives

The trailer for Steven Soderbergh's upcoming action thriller "Haywire" is now finally online, and you can check it out after the jump. Looks like lead star Gina Carano is going all Jason Bourne on us, and I have to admit, I like it. The film drops Jan. 20, 2012.

Mallory Kane is a highly trained operative who works for a government security contractor in the dirtiest, most dangerous corners of the world. After successfully freeing a Chinese journalist held hostage, she is double crossed and left for dead.

Suddenly the target of skilled assassins who know her every move, Mallory must find the truth in order to stay alive. Using her black-ops military training, she devises an ingenious—and dangerous—trap. Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender and Ewan McGregor co-star.

First look at John Cusack in 'The Raven'

Relativity Media has debuted new photos and the first official poster for James McTeigue's upcoming movie "The Raven," in which John Cusack plays Edgar Allan Poe. Check out these items above and below. The thriller is set to open March 9, 2012.

When a mother and daughter are found murdered in Baltimore, a detective makes a startling discovery: the crime resembles a fictional murder described in the local newspaper, part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer Edgar Allan Poe.

Cusack plays the lead, with Luke Evans playing Detective Emmett Fields. Also starring are Brendan Gleeson and Alice Eve. James McTeigue also directed "Ninja Assassin" and "V for Vendetta." You can keep up with "The Raven" on Facebook.

Oscar Isaac joins 'Bourne Legacy'

Even though I will truly miss Matt Damon as Jason Bourne, I am still somewhat intrigued by the upcoming "The Bourne Legacy," and the cast for the thriller is still growing. The latest to join the party: Oscar Isaac, who also starred in "Robin Hood."

Deadline points out Isaac tested for the lead role, but as you may know, that part went to Jeremy Renner, who is awesome, by the way. Isaac will play Number 3, another brainwashed assassin. Apparently, it's a big, important role.

Tony Gilroy will direct "Legacy," which will also star Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton. As for Isaac, his acting credits also include "Body of Lies," "Agora," "Drive," "Sucker Punch" and "The Life Before Her Eyes." Expect to see this guy more often, folks.

Check out the new 'Dream House' trailer

While it might not be as anticipated as films such as "The Dark Knight Rises" and "The Amazing Spider-Man," I know that are some out there who are very curious to check out the new thriller "Dream House." A new trailer has just hit the Web, so enjoy.

Directed by Jim Sheridan ("In America", "Brothers"), Dream House follows a young couple who soon after moving into their idyllic new home, learns of the brutal crime that took place against the former owners. The cast includes Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, and Naomi Watts.

Check out the trailer below. While the trailer is a bit confusing, I am really interested to see how this film turns out. Not only because I love the subject matter and the ever so lovely Naomi Watts, but also because I am very curious to see what Jim Sheridan does with this.

Awesome poster for Soderbergh's 'Contagion'

A new poster for Steven Soderbergh's upcoming thriller "Contagion" has debuted online, so check it out in full after the jump; it looks great for an innovative teaser poster. The film's cast includes Matt Damon, Jude Law, Marion Cotillard and Gwyneth Paltrow.

"Contagion," due in theaters Sept. 9, 2011, focuses on the threat posed by a deadly disease and an international team of doctors contracted by the CDC to deal with the outbreak. Laurence Fishburne and Kate Winslet round out the cast.

Count me among those excited to see Soderbergh tackle this sort of material. Although this trailer does not entirely reveal the core of the plot, it sure promises a well shot thriller that will hopefully put a new spin on the those virus outbreak flicks.

Trailer for 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark'

Katie Holmes in Don't Be Afraid in the Dark

Crrrreeeeeeeeppppyyy is the word to use here! The new trailer for the Guillermo del Toro-produced horror thriller "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" has arrived online, and it sure looks damn scary. Definitely something I'm looking forward to see. But not until Aug. 26, 2011. See the trailer below.

The story? A young girl sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend discovers creatures in her new home who want to claim her as one of their own. Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce and Bailee Madison (good actress, but she annoyed the heck out of me in "Just Go with It") star.

Guillermo del Toro co-wrote the script, and Troy Nixey directed. I have to say this again: "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" looks very promising. It opens in theaters Aug. 26, 2011.
