Pierre Morel to direct 'Signals' thriller

Pierre Morel

Pierre Morel has been inking quite a few deals ever since his fast-paced thriller "Taken" turned into a box office hit, and one of his upcoming projects is a thriller titled "Signals" for Media Rights Capital.

Plot details are stirctly kept under wraps, but The Hollywood Reporter says the film should take on the tone of a 1970s-era paranoid thriller like "Three Days of the Condor."

Richard Potter and Matthew Stravitz penned the script, and MRC is convinced Morel is the perfect man for the job. Morel's next film, "From Paris with Love," will open Feb. 5, 2010.

Morel is also developing thrillers "Pursuit," "Hunter-Killer" and an untitled film. I really enjoyed his "Taken," even though the film was certainly no masterpiece. It sure was entertaining to watch though.

Liam Neeson to explore ‘After.Life’

Actor Liam Neeson is joining Christina Ricci in Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo's upcoming thriller “After.Life,” the Hollywood Reporter announced earlier today.

The trade says the flick centers on a young woman (Ricci) caught between life and death. A funeral director (Neeson) appears to have the gift of transitioning the dead, but may be intent on burying her alive.

Sounds freaky.

Ricci recently joined the project and replaced Kate Bosworth, who was originally attached to play the lead.

Neeson was last heard as Asland in “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.” He’ll soon show up in Oliver Hirschbiegel’s “Five Minutes of Heaven.”

And before I forget, Neeson is also in talks to play Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln,” provided the project will actually happen.

Our quick thoughts: In Jeffrey Nachmanoff’s “Traitor,” Don Cheadle stars as Samir Horn, a former U.S. Special Operations officer who disappeared from the surface of the Earth after getting involved with foreign terrorist cells. Worried about Horn’s involvement in future international attacks, the FBI sends agents Clayton (Guy Pearce) and Archer (Neal McDonough) on a tricky manhunt, unaware of the fact that the man they’re looking for may have a different agenda.
