Charlize Theron, Sam Worthington board 'Tourist'

With Tom Cruise no longer starring in Spyglass Entertainment's "The Tourist," Sam Worthington is taking over the lead role in the remake of the 2005 French thriller “Anthony Zimmer.”

The film centers on an American tourist who faces great danger when a female Interpol agent tricks him into taking out a criminal she once had an affair with.

Charlize Theron has previously been attached to star in the film, and she is now officially on board. Bharat Nalluri, whose credits include “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day,” is directing a script by Julian Fellowes and Jeffrey Nachmanoff.

Worthington was last seen in "Terminator Salvation." Upcoming projects of his include "Avatar" and "Clash of the Titan." As for Theron, she will next be seen in "The Burning Plain." She's also got "The Road" coming soon.

Charlize Theron to join Cruise in ‘Tourist’

Charlize Theron is in talks to join Tom Cruise in Bharat Nalluri’s upcoming “The Tourist,” a remake of France’s “Anthony Zimmer.”

Variety says the film centers on an American tourist who faces great danger when a female Interpol (Theron) agent tricks him into taking out a criminal she once had an affair with.

Nalluri, whose credits include “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day,” is directing a script by Julian Fellowes. Christopher McQuarrie (“Valkyrie”) is currently doing a rewrite.

Theron was last seen opposite Will Smith in “Hancock.” She will next star in Guillermo Arriaga’s “The Burning Plain,” followed by John Hillcoat’s “The Road.”

The original “Anthony Zimmer” was directed by Jerome Salle and starred Yvan Attal and Sophie Marceau.

Tom Cruise may board ‘The Tourist’

Tom Cruise is currently in negotiations with Spyglass Entertainent to star in Bharat Nalluri’s upcoming thriller “The Tourist,” according to Variety.

A remake of the 2005 French thriller “Anthony Zimmer,” the film centers on an American tourist who faces danger when a female Interpol agent tricks him into taking out a criminal she once had an affair with.

Nalluri, who most recently helmed “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day,” will direct a script by “Gosford Park” screenwriter Julian Fellowes.

Cruise will next be seen in Bryan Singer’s World War II drama “Valkyrie,” which is now scheduled for release Dec. 26
