Universal could go all 'Nutty' again

Let's be honest here: would you really want to see another sequel to "The Nutty Professor"? While I personally think it's completely unnecesary, the folks over at Universal think it's a great idea. Of course they do.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the studio is already working on a third movie in the series, which kicked off in 1996 and starred Eddie Murphy as an overweight professor who develops a chemical that turns him into a slim but utterly obnoxious person.

Following the success of the first flick, a sequel entitled "Nutty Professor II: The Klumps" followed in 2000, which earned a little less money at the box office but still proved to be quite profitable.

Eight years later, someone out there thinks it's time to bring "Nutty" back. Universal is currently looking for writers to come up with a decent idea for the third installement, although Murphy is apparently not yet attached to return.

The trade says Eddie's return may depend on the quality of the story, the director and other elements, but my best guess is he'll do it no matter what. After "Meet Dave," the man desperately needs a movie some people out there may actually end up seeing.

Anyway, that's all we know about this right now. I would be interested in reading your opinion on this potential return of Sherman Klump. Let me know what you think below!
