Watch the new 'The Lincoln Lawyer' trailer

It took a while for this one to come together, but "The Lincoln Lawyer" is now finally on track for a release March 18, 2011. Matthew McConaughey stars in the thriller directed by Brad Furman. Trailer above.

Looks quite intense without revealing all too much at the same time, which I appreciate. Plus, the casting looks pretty solid as well. Marisa Tomei looks amazing, and Ryan Phillippe and William H. Macy co-star.

The film follows a pretty confident lawyer (McConaughey) who works out of the back of his Lincoln and picks up his biggest case yet when he agrees to defend a Beverly Hills playboy accused of murder.

No 'Lincoln Lawyer' for Tommy Lee Jones

Tommy Lee Jones has officially left "The Lincoln Lawyer," Lakeshore Entertainment's thriller he was originally attached to direct and star in. Matthew McConaughey is still on board as the lead character.

Variety says Jones dropped the project over creative differences on the script. John Romano wrote the screenplay, and Lakeshore plans to start production next spring. The hunt for a new director is on.

Tommy Lee Jones to direct 'Lincoln Lawyer'

Tommy Lee Jones is in talks to direct and co-star alongside Matthew McConaughey in Lakeshore Entertainment's "The Lincoln Lawyer," a thriller based on the novel by Michael Connolly.

The story sounds pretty cool. The film follows a Los Angeles lawyer who works out of the back of his Lincoln and picks up his biggest case yet when he agrees to defend a Beverly Hills playboy accused of murder.

The Hollywood Reporter says McConaughey plays Mickey Haller, the lawyer. The trade says it's unknown at this stage what character Jones would play. John Romano wrote the script.

Daily news dose: Nicole Kidman joins Allen flick; Isaiah Washington to portray Lou Rawls?

Here's your dose of film news for March 29, 2009:

• Woody Allen is still recruiting for this upcoming untitled movie, and the latest to join the project is Nicole Kidman. She's joining Freida Pinto, Naomi Watts, Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas and Josh Brolin. As usual, plot details are strictly kept under wraps. Kidman will soon be seen in "Nine." (The Hollywood Reporter)

• Isaiah Washington is attached to play singer Lou Rawls in an upcoming biopic. Lou Rawls Jr. wrote a script with Robert Egan and Dimi, and Pathway Entertainment will develop the project. Washington's credits include "Grey's Anatomy" and "Hollywood Homicide." (THR)

• David O. Russell is in talks to direct "The Silver Linings Playbook," based on the novel by Matthew Quick. The story follows a former high school teacher who's put in the care of his mom after leaving a mental institution. Russell recently directed "Nailed," which ran into a bunch of financial trouble. • Matthew McConaughey is in talks to star in Lakeshore's upcoming thriller "The Lincoln Lawyer," based on the novel by Michael Connolly. The story follows a criminal defense attorney who's representing a wealthy client with ties to a previous murder case. McConaughey will soon be seen in "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past." (Variety)
