Meyer's 'The Host' gets release date

With the first part of the final chapter of the "Twilight" saga gracing screens worldwide in November, one can assume that everyone in the industry is attempting to tap into the franchise's immense success. Open Roads Films may have secured themselves a piece of the pie.
Reports say the company has secured the rights for the U.S. distribution of "Twlight" author Stephanie Meyer's best-selling novel "The Host." The film will star Saoirse Ronan and has been given a tentative March 2013 release date.
"The Host" is about an alien race called Souls, which take over Earth and inhabit the bodies of humans. But when one “wild” human refuses to succumb, she and the alien spirit become unwilling allies and set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.
Director Andrew Niccol is set to begin shooting the film in February of 2012.
