Gwyneth Paltrow joins Kidman in 'Danish Girl'

Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow is set to join Nicole Kidman in "The Danish Girl," Tomas Alfredson's drama from a script by Lucinda Coxon, who adapted David Ebershoff’s novel.

Based on a true story, the film focuses on Einar and Greta Wegener, two Danish artists whose marriage drastically changed when Einar became the first postoperative transsexual.

Kidman is Einar, and Paltrow plays Greta, according to Variety. Charlize Theron ("The Burning Plain") was once attached to that role, but she dropped out.

Paltrow will soon return to play Pepper Potts in "Iron Man 2." She was also seen in "Two Lovers." Kidman will soon dance in "Nine." BTW, Alfredson directed "Let the Right One In."

Tomas Alfredson to direct 'The Danish Girl'

Sweden's Tomas Alfredson has come on board to direct Nicole Kidman in "The Danish Girl," a drama based on David Ebershoff's true-story novel. Charlize Theron was previously attached to star as well, but she dropped out.

The film focuses on Einar (Kidman) and Greta Wegener, two Danish artists whose marriage drastically changed in the 1930s when Einar became the first to undergo a sex-change operation to become a woman.

Kidman, Theron team up for ‘Danish Girl’

Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron are getting married in a big-screen adaptation of “The Danish Girl,” according to THR.

Based on a true story, the film focuses on Einar and Greta Wegener, two Danish artists whose marriage drastically changed when Einar became the first postoperative transsexual.

The trade says Anand Tucker is attached to direct the script by Lucinda Coxon, who adapted David Ebershoff’s novel. Kidman is also on board to produce.

Kidman last starred in “The Golden Compass.” She will next be seen in Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming romantic drama “Australia.

As for Theron, she will soon be seen in “The Burning Plain,” followed by “The Road.”
