Here's what Black Widow will look like in 'The Avengers'

Marvel is on a roll. After releasing art work of Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, they just unleashed a pretty cool art piece of what Scarlett Johansson will look like as Black Widow in "The Avengers," which Joss Whedon is helming. Full look after the jump.

Johansson will reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff, one of many characters leading the anticipated superhero flick, which opens everywhere May 4, 2012. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Samuel L. Jackson co-star.

It's safe to say that "The Avengers" is one of the biggest films of next year, and with sexy Black Widow on board, it should be quite enjoyable to watch. Johansson's appearance (and battle) in "Iron Man 2" is still one of my favorite moments from that flick.

Here's what Hawkeye looks like in 'The Avengers'

The folks at Marvel Studios have unleashed a look at Hawkeye in "The Avengers." Sure, it's only a piece of art, but it gives you a good glimpse at what Jeremy Renner will look like in the upcoming film directed by Joss Whedon. See it in full after the jump.

Renner will be playing Clint Barton, one of many characters leading the anticipated superhero flick, which opens everywhere May 4, 2012. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Samuel L. Jackson co-star.

It's safe to say that "The Avengers" is one of the biggest films of next year. This also means tons of pressure on the filmmakers, who better come up with a superhero film that will deliver the goods. As we've seen recently, not every superhero film is a winner.

Joss Whedon talks ladies in 'The Avengers'

Black Widow is so hot

"The Avengers" is gearing up to shoot next year, and Joss Whedon is already spilling some details when it comes to the anticipated blockbuster starring all of our favorite superheroes. Here's the latest:

Speaking with The Sunday Herald-Sun (via Moviehole), Whedon mentioned there will be more than one female character in the film. "It is true that the movie is only going to have one female avenger," he said.

Okay, so there he talks about Scarlett Johansson's awesome kick-ass character Black Widow. "But she will not be the only female character," he added. Ah, more female characters as promised.

He also talked story and said, "It will be a new story that has many things from different arcs of the comics in it. You really have to cull from the original and 'The Ultimates,' which is one of 'The Avengers' titles."

Mini teaser trailer for 'The Avengers' is now online

Okay, if you haven't seen the logo for Marvel's upcoming "The Avengers" film, you may enjoy this post. This is the short Comic-Con teaser that shows no footage but only graphics. It also features Nick Fury.

His voice, anyway. This is the logo concept for the film Joss Whedon will direct. "The Avengers" will open May 4, 2012, and I am sure we will be hearing tons more about this in the coming months. Exciting...

Whedon also directed "Serenity," and most recently, he wrote "The Cabin in the Woods" with Drew Goddard. He's quite an interesting pick, and I can't wait to see what he brings to this ambitious project!

Joss Whedon confirms 'Avengers' directing gig

I guess this really makes it official now: Joss Whedon announced at Comic-Con that he will most definitely direct "The Avengers" for Marvel Studios. The film is still on track for its release May 4, 2012.

Rumors of Whedon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") helming this anticipated superhero blockbuster surfaced earlier this year, but he now said he's on board, although he's working on an outline only right now.

Whedon also directed "Serenity," and most recently, he wrote "The Cabin in the Woods" with Drew Goddard. He's quite an interesting pick, and I can't wait to see what he brings to this ambitious project!

Could Mark Ruffalo play Hulk in 'Avengers'?

Lots of big players in Hollywood can act like children at times, as seen recently via the bid Edward Norton dispute and the question of whether he'll play Bruce Banner aka. the Hulk in "The Avengers."

Well, it's pretty clear now that Norton will not be the Hulk, and that brings up the question: who the heck will replace him? Considering Marvel is trying to turn "Avengers" into a big movie, it's a crucial decision.

Deadline Hollywood has one lead, reporting that Mark Ruffalo is a hot contender for the role. The site says he has an offer on the table, although other sources attached to the film say nothing is a done deal.

Ruffalo is an interesting pick. He's without doubt a fabulous actor, but I admit I was surprised when I heard his name pop up for this. Could he do it? I think he'd totally deserve a shot at it. Don't you think?

Big News: Joss Whedon to direct 'The Avengers'

This is without doubt the biggest movie news item of the day. The folks at IESB recently reported that Joss Whedon is in talks to direct "The Avengers," and today comes the confirmation that the man is in final negotiations to helm the high-profile project. Last year, Matthew Vaughn expressed interest in the Marvel flick, but it looks like Whedon will nail down the job.

Whedon, of course, is the man behind "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel," and "Dollhouse." He also directed "Serenity," and most recently, he wrote "The Cabin in the Woods" with Drew Goddard. So yeah, he definitely is an interesting choice, and I am eager to find out what he will end up doing with "The Avengers," which we may see come to life in May 2012.

Louis Leterrier would do 'Hulk 2' while Matthew Vaughn would love to direct 'Avengers'

The Incredible Hulk meets the Avengers

While I did not entirely enjoy Ang Lee's "Hulk" from a few years ago, I admit I had quite a blast watching "The Incredible Hulk" from director Louis Leterrier, whose credits also include the so-so "Danny the Dog" and okay "Transporter 2."

Well, according to Moviehole, Leterrier wouldn't mind stepping behind the camera for a "Hulk" sequel. "Sure. I'd return to it. I have some ideas. So many ideas for so many things," Leterrier told the Web site.

Kevin Feige talks 'Iron Man 2' & 'Captain America'

Marvel big shot Kevin Feige recently talked to Comic Book Resources and chatted quite a bit about "Iron Man 2," "Captain America" and "The Avengers." He definitely had a couple of interesting things to say about the anticipated "Iron Man" follow-up, and you can check out the best quotes just below.

On what they wanted to improve in "Iron Man 2," Feige said he wants the showdown in No. 2 to be more spectacular.

'Avengers' pushed back; 'Spidey 4' gets date

Marvel Studios has set and moved around several release dates for some of its upcoming superhero films.

First and foremost, "The Avengers" is now scheduled to open May 4, 2012. The film's original release date was July 15, 2011.

Marvel has also set the release for "Spider-Man 4" to May 6, 2011. "Thor" will open June 17 the same year, pushed away from its original 2010 release.

Finally, "The First Avenger: Captain America" will arrive in theaters July 22, 2011. As for "Iron Man 2," it's still set to open May 7, 2010.

Even though some 2011 spots have not been filled by other studios, it sure looks like Marvel will dominate the summer of 2011.

I'm willing to wait for "The Avengers" a little longer. To be honest, the one I'm looking forward most among these flick is "Iron Man 2," and luckily, it'll be the first to open.
