'Coraline' web reviews

Henry Selick, director of "The Nightmare Before Christmas," returns with "Coraline," a 3D stop-motion adventure about a young girl who enters a parallel world by unlocking a mysterious door in her new home. The voice cast includes Dakota Fanning and Teri Hatcher, and here is what the Web's critics have to say about the film:

CinemaBlend's Josh Tyler: "It’s worth your $10 to plop down in a theater and enjoy the whole 3D experience, it’s just not particularly memorable."

Joblo's JimmyO: "It is not every day that a family film is able to treat the audience as well as this does. Sure it is beautiful to look at and the animation is fantastic, but almost more importantly, it isn’t condescending to the audience."

RopeOfSilicon's Brad Brevet: "When it comes down to it Coraline's visuals are far more impressive than its lackluster story and that just isn't enough for me."

• Matt Goldberg at Collider: "Henry Selick has done a great service to Neil Gaiman's words and crafted a nice little dark fantasy that will toughen up your kids without traumatizing them."

• Georges Roush at LatinoReview: "Coraline is a fantastic piece of work that anyone in this, or the other world, will love."

Some lucky folks out there recently got the chance to go behind the scenes of Henry Selick's upcoming 3D stop motion adventure "Coraline," which is based on the novel by Neil Gaiman. As you can see in the pic above, the stuff they got to see sure looks amazing.

The story centers on a young girl named Coraline, who discovers a secret door in her home that leads to a whole different world. Dakota Fanning, Keith David, Teri Hatcher and Ian McShane lend their voices to the film's characters.
