First ‘Teardrop Diamond’ still debuts

Rope Of Silicon recently posted a screenshot from Jodie Markell’s upcoming romance “The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond,” a film based on a screenplay by Tennessee Williams. In the still above you can see the brilliant Bryce Dallas Howard, who stars as a daughter of a Memphis plantation owner.

After returning home from studying abroad, she falls in love with the poor son of an alcoholic father and a crazy mother. She tries her best to pass him off as a rich suitor to please her aunt, but the sudden loss of a diamond makes the risky relationship even more complicated.

Chris Evans, Ellen Burstyn and David Strathairn co-star. “The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond” premieres at this year’s Toronto Film Festival. Click right here to see a bigger version of the image.

Hackford to helm Tennessee Williams biopic

Taylor Hackford will direct “Tenn,” a drama about the life of playwright Tennessee Williams, according to Variety.

The biopic focuses on how Williams’ relationships with his close family members pushed him to write famous plays such as “A Streetcar Named Desire” and “The Glass Menagerie.”

Hackford will be directing a script by Robin Shushan, who recently wrote a screenplay based on the J. Paul Getty kidnapping for Peter Berg.

The project’s producer Michael Ohoven said the film will bear some similarities to “Capote,” in which author Truman Capote developed a special relationship with one of two murderers.

Hackford last directed the Ray Charles biopic “Ray.” He recently wrapped filming for “Love Ranch,” a drama starring his wife Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci.
