Review: "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1"

Seen on: November 16, 2011 | Reviewed by Danny Alves | The players: Director: Bill Condon, Writer: Melissa Rosenberg, Cast: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner | Fact of interest: The sex scene between Bella and Edward on their honeymoon had to be cut down in order to receive a PG13 rating.

The plot: The fourth movie in the “Twilight” series. Here, Bella and Edward get married and get pregnant on their honeymoon, causing the usual beef between werewolves and vampires..

Our thoughts: I should start by admitting that I actually enjoy the"Twilight" movies, and I really don’t even like the books! It's not so much that I don’t read; I really do. The thing is, I simply like the setup of this franchise; you know, the whole "vampires vs. werewolves walking amongst us"  and the "forbidden love triangle." I eat that crap up!

That said, I cannot stand Bella Swan. It's a harsh statement, but she is just so uninteresting and annoying, it’s hard to imagine  she’d ever garner the undying love on, not one, but TWO hot mythical creatures! And the books are written in her 1st person perspective!

Watch: 'Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1' trailer

The first trailer for Bill Condon's "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" has landed online, so watch it below before it gets pulled and we have to wait for it to officially drop. If it does disappear, we'll update with a new version as soon as we find one.

The first of two films will hit theaters Nov. 18, 2011, while the second part will drop Nov. 16, 2012. It's the big finale in the popular series based on the novels by Stephenie Meyer, and it looks like Bella and Edward will spend most of the film having sex.

Anyway, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Michael Sheen return to reprise their roles. Also back in action are Ashley Greene, Anna Kendrick, Nikki Reed, Billy Burke and Dakota Fanning. Who's excited?

Movie Review: "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse"

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: June 30, 2010

The players: Director: David Slade, Writer: Melissa Rosenberg, Cast: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Anna Kendrick, Billy Burke

Facts of interest: Slade also helmed "30 Days of Night."

The plot: Bella is back, and she's still having trouble deciding between dead-looking Edward and the warm Jacob.

Our thoughts: The vampires and werewolves are back on the big screen, and this time, they all look a little more agitated. Well, part of it is certainly because we’re getting closer to the end of “The Twilight Saga,” and that means things should technically heat up, right? Even though David Slade’s “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” does indeed pack a bit more punch than its predecessors, I’m sorry to announce that in my book, it’s still coming up short.

'Twilight Saga: Eclipse' breaks midnight records!

David Slade's "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" is already a huge hit, because the third installment in the ridiculously popular vampire series generated a massive $30 million from midnight screenings!

"Eclipse" had multiple midnight shows per theater at more than 4,000 locations, beating the $26.3 million midnight record set by "The Twilight Saga: New Moon." About $1 million came from IMAX shows.

"Eclipse" will also easily win this 4th of July weekend, although it's not sure the movie will beat the opening weekend gross of "New Moon." Still, Summit will certainly be pleased with the sequel's results.

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' - What did you think?

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

"The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" broke records yesterday by bagging $30 million from midnight screenings, but what I want to know is: what did you guys think of this third installment in the popular series???

The early screening I attended this morning was rather empty, but that's understandable, because the movie plays every 30 minutes between 9.30 in the morning and midnight. Isn't that completely nuts?

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner return in "Eclipse," and Bella must further decide what to do while some new vamps are getting ready to invade Forks and create some big mayhem...

Anyway, I am just about to get started on my review (spoiler: I didn't love it but liked it more than "New Moon"), so please share your thoughts below. And as usual: keep this a friendly discussion.

New 'Twilight Saga: Eclipse' trailer now online

The brand-new trailer for David Slade's upcoming "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" debuted on Oprah, but it is now also online, and you can check it out after the jump. As someone who failed to enjoy the first two films I can't say I am overly excited about this one, but this preview does at least promise more action.

And action we need. "New Moon" felt like a dreadful snooze fest filled with silly dialogue and not much else, so I can only hope "Eclipse" will at least boast some solid action entertainment. I hope it has that 'bite' the other films lacked. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Dakota Fanning star.

Essentially, Bella must choose (she still hasn't made up her mind?) between Jacob and Edward in this sequel, even though the vamps and angry wolves are also busy fighting off an army of ruthless vamps. "Eclipse" hits theaters June 30, 2010. Check out the trailer from Oprah below.

'Stretch Armstrong' gets new writer, director

Here are some news about Universal Pictures' upcoming film based on Hasbro's action figure "Stretch Armstrong," which will open everywhere in 3D in 2012. The studio has recruited Nicholas Stoller to rewrite Steve Oedekerk's original script. Also, Rob Letterman has jumped on board to direct the movie.

The film is based on the toy brand that gained popularity in the 1970s and was relaunched in the '90s. Plot details are unknown, but Taylor Lautner is set for the lead role. Stoller is the guy who directed "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and upcoming comedy "Get Him to the Greek."

Stoller also penned "Gulliver's Travels," which Rob Letterman directed. That film will open later this year. Letterman, by the way, co-directed "Monsters vs Aliens" and "Shark Tale." Ineresting grouping Universal has going on for this one. (Source: Variety)

Three new 'Twilight Saga: Eclipse' pictures hit

Summit has release three new stills from David Slade's upcoming "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," and if you're up for it, you can admire them above and below. There's nothing exciting going on here, but it offers you yet another look at Bella (Kristen Stewart), Jacob (Taylor Lautner), Edward (Robert Pattinson) and the vamp gang. Did I mention these pics aren't very special? How about some of those action shots then?

What else is there to say about this? Essentially, Bella will spend time choosing between Jacob and Ed this time. As someone who has not read the books, this seems like something she could've already done in "New Moon," but hey, maybe the film surprises us with a decent story this time. Always gotts keep a positive attitude, right? "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" opens June 30, 2010.

'Twilight Saga: Eclipse' gets a boring poster

Summit has released a new poster for David Slade's upcoming "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," and as you can see after the jump, it's a pretty boring one. To be honest with you, there is absolutely nothing going on in this one-sheet. Isn't it time to step things up a bit with this franchise? The tagline suggests boredom as well: "It all begins... with a choice." Wait, hasn't the whole choice thing begun already?

Essentially, Bella (Kristen Stewart) must choose between Jacob (Taylor Lautner) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) in the third film based on the popular novels. We've seen a first trailer recently, and while it's edited together rather well, it doesn't necessarily promise a compelling sequel. Needless to say, I have barely recovered from the whole "New Moon" mania, and "Eclipse" hits theaters June 30, 2010.

'The Twilight: Eclipse' trailer is here

So, here it is: the trailer so many people have been waiting for. Too bad it's only a minute and a half, huh? Anyway, Summit made a big deal out of the online release of this preview for "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," and now you can check it out right after the jump. Feel free to share your thoughts.

About the trailer: yes, it looks cool, the music is great, and even the mood feels intriguing. But so did things in the trailer for "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," and alas, the actual film ended up sucking big time. At least in my book, that is. Are we in for a repeat? Let's hope not, right?

Essentially, Bella (Kristen Stewart) must choose between Jacob (Taylor Lautner) and Edward (Robert Pattinson) in "Eclipse." Yeah, it's that neverending story, I know. Anyway, "Eclipse" hits theaters June 30, 2010.
