Steve Coogan talks 'Hamlet 2'

Edward Douglas over at ComingSoon.net talked to actor Steve Coogan about his upcoming comedy "Hamlet 2," which opens Aug. 27, 2008. You can read and watch the interview right here.

In the interview, Coogan discusses his character Dana Marschz, a failed actor-turned teacher who must put on an awesome play in order to prevent the school board from cancelling drama. Here's a snippet of what he had to tell ComingSoon:

"Sure, there's lots of little improvised ideas, like me getting my pants off and stuff like that. That wasn't in the script. I thought if I could get a laugh, I'd do it, so stuff like that was improvised."
"Hamlet 2" is directed by Andrew Fleming and co-stars Catherine Keener, Melonie Diaz and Amy Poehler. Click here to check out the full interview.

'Tropic Thunder' web reviews

By now, I'm sure you've read all about the numerous controversies Ben Stiller's latest action comedy "Tropic Thunder" has caused over the past weeks. Nonetheless, the nation's top critics offered the film a warm welcome with some extraordinarily positive reviews. But what do the Web people have to say about the new stunt by Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr.? Let's find out (I will post my review later today).

• Brad Brevet at RopeOfSilicon: "Stiller shows an incredible ability to manage a highly complex project, which mirrors many big-budget dramas in terms of complexity, but it pieces it all together in such a way you sometimes can forget you are watching a comedy."

• LatinoReview's Ron Henriques: "As I said, Downey Jr. is the hook for this film, but the real shame lies in the fact that the best of what you see of him has already played in the film's trailer and promo ads."

Collider's Brian Orndorf: "It's an industry rarity that's worth applauding."
