Movie Review: "The Expendables"

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: August 9, 2010

The players: Director: Sylvester Stallone, Writers: Sylvester Stallone, Dave Callaham, Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Steve Austin, Eric Roberts

Facts of interest: Budget reported at $70 million.

The plot: A group of mercenaries head to an island to overthrow a dictator.

Our thoughts: Sylvester Stallone is back in action, and that means we’re in for a solid dose of brainless big-screen action. While “The Expendables” is certainly not the brilliant summer movie I wanted it to be, I admit it still packs enough punch to stay away from boredom and offer cinemagoers a stupid, yet action-packed show filled with gun battles and ridiculously massive explosions.

Cool footage from 'Exendables' set debuts online!

Sylvester Stallone on the set of The Expendables.

Ethelmae’s Blog has posted a short but pretty cool behind-the-scenes clip from the set of Sylvester Stallone's upcoming action spectacle "The Expendables," and you can check out the footage after the jump. The first part of the clip shows Sly as he gives some directions, and the second part takes us to a scene during which Eric Roberts and Stone Cold Steve Austin take a jump.

Written by Stallone,"The Expendables" follows a group of tough mercenaries who infiltrate a South American country to overthrow its dictator and free its population. Sly, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Britanny Murphy and Mickey Rourke co-star. See it in theaters April 23, 2010. Check out some recent set photos here.
