Stephenie Meyer's 'Host' coming to big screen

Andrew Niccol ("Lord of War") is set to write and direct the big-screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's adult novel "The Host" after Nick Wechsler, Steve and Paula Mae Schwartz have acquired the rights to the book.

Meyer, of course, is best known for her "Twilight" series. "The Host" is a love story set on Earth in the future and follows an alien parasite known as Wanderer that is fused with a dying human named Melanie Stryder.

Review: "Twilight"

Seen on: November 21, 2008

The players: Director: Catherine Hardwicke, Writer: Melissa Rosenberg, Cast: Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Cam Gigandet, Nikki Reed

Facts of interest: Catherine Hardwicke also directed "Thirteen."

The plot: It's the story of Bella, a human who falls in love with Edward, a vampire.

Our thoughts: Hardcore “Twilight” fans will certainly get their money’s worth in Catherine Hardwicke’s big-screen adaptation of the popular Stephenie Meyer novel, but there’s a chance people who haven’t read the book but would still like to find out what the fuss is all about may actually end up watching a boring film.

Future of 'Twilight' looking bright for fans

With all the craziness going on about the upcoming release of Catherine Hardwicke's vampire romance "Twilight," Summit Entertainment is already working hard developing sequels.

Although we already knew that at least one follow-up would be heading our way in the near future, Summit has acquired the right to Stephenie Meyer's next three novels in the popular series, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Yes fans, you'll certainly be able to see Edward and Bella on the big screen more than once. The trade says Melissa Rosenberg, who wrote the first adaptation, is already on board to tackle the screenplays for "New Moon" and "Eclipse."

No writer is currently attached to adapt "Breakind Dawn," the fourth book.

It's pretty safe to say Summit has already scored big with the upcoming release of "Twilight." I mean, this film has generated just as much - if not more - buzz than "The Dark Knight."

For all the Twilighters out there, the long wait will be over Nov. 21, when the first book comes to life on the silver screen. I still haven't read the books and probably won't get a chance to (too many movies to watch), but I sure am eager to see what all this insane fuss is about.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are just two of the people talking to ET about the success of the book and how tough it was to star in an adaptation of a book so many people love so much. Anyway, see for yourself right after the jump.

The release date is approaching fast, and everywhere you look it's Twilight, Twilight, Twilight. I can't wait to see those box office results. The flick hits Nov. 21, 2008. Adios, I'm out...

Brand-new 'Twilight' banner hits

The folks over at MTV posted the latest banner for Catherine Hardwicke's upcoming vampire romance "Twilight," which hits theaters Nov. 21, 2008. It's basically just an extended version of the poster we posted just a couple of days ago.

Doesn't Edward look kind of dead? Looks more like a zombie to me than a vampire. Uh-oh, I'm sure "Twilight" fans certainly don't appreciate such comments. Sorry about that, I just can't get too excited over a turbulent love story between a girl and a blood-sucking human bat.

'Twilight' fans flock to setting of vampire romance

If you're a "Twilight" fan, I'm sure you've heard of Forks, Washington before. But that question is: have you already been there?

If not, you should definitely on going, because ever since Stephenie Meyer's books became a hit, the town has seen an increasing number of visitors curious to see where Bella fell in love with a vampire.

Forks is the setting of the "Twilight" books, which chronicle the romance between a 17-year-old who moves to the town and falls for Edward Cullen, a vampire.

CNN today posted an interesting article about how the books have helped Forks become a top destination for die-hard "Twilight" fans:

"In a town framed by towering Douglas fir, hemlock and spruce and the occasional western red cedar, where rough, blue collar edges are tangible, the unexpected attention seems to be a second chance for the economy."

Well then, time to pack your bags folks. This is certainly one more thing to do before Catherine Hardwicke's film version of "Twilight" opens Nov. 21.
