Movie Review: "The A-Team"

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: June 8, 2010

The players: Director: Joe Carnahan, Writer: Brian Bloom, Joe Carnahan, Cast: Liam Neeson, Patrick Wilson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton Jackson, Sharlto Copley

Facts of interest: Joe Carnahan also helmed "Narc."

The plot: Based on the TV series, the film follows a group of soliders trying to clear their names after being set up by a bunch of bad guys.

Our thoughts: It sure took long enough for this one to hit the big screen, but now “The A-Team” has finally arrived in theaters, and I would be lying if I told you I didn’t have a blast watching this crazy thing. Okay, it’s by far not a perfect action adventure, but then again, despite its utter ridiculousness, this movie is just so much fun to watch. Seriously, do yourself a favor and check it out.

First 'The A-Team' reviews debut online

The A-Team Reviews

I'm not allowed to post my review of Joe Carnahan's "The A-Team" until tomorrow afternoon, so I will be a nice guy and follow the rules. What I can tell you though is that I really enjoyed it. It's a fun action piece.

The first reviews are now hitting the Web, and before you know it, there will be more of them than we can handle. Here is what some folks who have posted their review online have to say about "The A-Team."

Bryan Buss in Moving Pictures: "There are jaw-dropping stunts, furiously fast editing, a federal agent and Cooper, who is in stunning shape and runs around showing it off for a fair portion of the film."

Crazy, action-packed 'A-Team' clip arrives

Joe Carnahan's "The A-Team" will start creating mayhem in theaters June 11, 2010, and here is a first clip to give you an idea of what kind of action to expect in this big-screen adaptation of the classic TV series.

In brief, this footage is just plain ridiculous. Sure, fully computer-generated and over-the-top action scenes can be fun, but I sincerely hope we'll also get to see something more 'normal' in this movie.

With Carnahan at the helm you never know what to expect, but I still have hope. As for this clip, check it out below and judge for yourself. I'm not saying it blows, but it just feels like too much, no?

'The A-Team' gets a new trailer

"The A-Team" just received a brand-new trailer, and you can check it out after the jump. It's just as fast-paced as the previous one, but there is a whole lot more going on in this new version. We also get a better look at the characters and their attitudes, and we also get a better preview of the insane action sequences we'll be able to enjoy (or laugh about) when the film opens in theaters June 11, 2010.

The big-screen adaptation of the TV series stars Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Patrick Wilson. Cooper is cast as Templeton "Faceman" Peck, Neeson is on board to play Col. John "Hannibal" Smith, 'Rampage' Jackson is B.A. Baracus and Copley is Capt. "Howling Mad" Murdock. They play former soldiers hunted down for a crime they didn't commit.

New 'A-Team' poster pops up online

We haven't heard that much about Joe Carnahan's "The A-Team" for a while, but the action adventure is still on track to open in theaters June 11, 2010. A new international poster has surfaced on the Web today though, and you can check it out in full after the jump. It's very similar to the first promotional still that was released a while ago with the trailer, which you can check out here, by the way. The poster looks okay, although I find they could have done a better job at it. Not as intriguing as I thought it would be.

First 'A-Team' trailer is finally here! And it's cool too!

Updated on Friday, January 8, 2010 at 12:31PM by Registered CommenterFranck Tabouring

The A-Team trailer is here!

The wait is over! The first trailer for Joe Carnahan's "The A-Team" has finally debuted in theaters this weekend, and some leaked versions are already all over the Web. I don't know how long these will stay up, so watch it fast.

As you cen see below, the new "A-Team" definitely looks cool, filled with insane action and what looks like a perfect cast. I'm particularly excited to see how Bradley Cooper and Sharlto Copley will handle the roles of Faceman and Murdock.

Also, Liam Neeson looks like he can pull off a decent Hannibal. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson is on board as B.A., and hey, doesn't he look the part as well? Some sequences in this preview are clearly a tad too over the top for my taste, but that's okay at this stage.

Needless to say, I am pretty excited about this one, considering I loved and still love to watch the original TV series. I can only hope Carnahan didn't mess this one up. For now, enjoy this trailer and let me know what you think about the first look at the brand-new "A-Team."
