Seann William Scott, Adam Brody join Smith's 'Dicks'

Seann William Scott will star in A Couple of Dicks

Seann William Scott and Adam Brody are the latest to join Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan in Kevin Smith's upcoming comedy "A Couple of Dicks," which Warner Bros. is developing. Robb and Mark Cullen wrote the script for the action comedy, which will start shooting next week and is currently set to open Feb. 26, 2009.

Willis plays a cop who, along with his partner (Morgan), encounters a mysterious gangster and rescues a Mexican chick during their investigation into the theft of a valuable baseball card. According to Variety, Scott plays a thief known as Shit Bandit (oh my!), while Brody is on board to play a detective.

Scott recently delivered a refreshing performance in "Role Models." Brody, whose credits include "The O.C.," will soon star in "Jennifer's Body." As for Smith, he last directed the moderately entertaining comedy "Zack and Miri Make a Porno."

'Role Models' web reviews

Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott are teaming up in David Wain's "Role Models," a funny comedy in which the actors are forced to look after two lonely kids. I personally had a great time watching the flick, but what about other online critics? Let's find out how they feel about it:

Cinematical's William Goss: "Sure, we get every bit the expected second-act conflict and third-act reconciliation, but at least when it comes to the emotional climax, both protagonists are adorned in '80s-rock attire and one can't help but strike the other in the groin."

• Robert Fure at FilmSchoolRejects: "All in all, 'Role Models' is a very funny film with lots of laugh out loud moments, which is rare for me."

Review: "Role Models"

Seen on: November 7, 2008

The players: Director: David Wain, Writers: Paul Rudd, Tom McGrath, Ken Marino, Timothy Dowling, Cast: Seann William Scott, Paul Rudd, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jane Lynch, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Bobb'e J. Thompson

Facts of interest: David Wain also directed last year's "The Ten."

The plot: After engaging in an act of vandalism and destruction of property, Wheeler and Danny are given a chance to avoid jail if they join Sturdy Wings, a program that encourages friendships between adults and lonely children.

Our thoughts: If you’re planning to have a good time at the movies this weekend, you may want to look up to Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott, because in David Wain’s surprisingly refreshing new comedy “Role Models,” the two actors deliver quite an enjoyable show by struggling to entertain two hyperactive youngsters.

Watch the new 'Role Models' trailer

David Wain, director of last year's "The Ten," returns to the big screen with "Role Models," a comedy starring Seann William Scott, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks and "Superbad" star Christopher Mintz-Plasse. In the film, two energy drink reps (Scott and Rudd) decide to enroll into a Big Brother program after getting into a whole load of trouble.

The first trailer was released just a few days ago, and while I'm not exactly impressed by what I saw, I have to admit the flick does not look that horrible either. Most of this just looks like standard silly comedy, with Scott putting on his usual routine. But who knows; maybe you'll find the trailer more hilarious than I did. You can check it out just above. Enjoy.
