San Diego film critics favor 'Slumdog'

The San Diego Film Critics Society awarded Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire" a total of six times Monday, starting with naming it the best picture of 2008.

The film also won best director for Danny Boyle, best adapted screenplay for Simon Beaufoy, best cinematography for Anthony Dod Mantle, best editing for Chris Dickens and best score for A.R. Rahman.

Kate Winslet recieved the best actress award for her performance in "The Reader," while Marisa Tomei took home the prize for best supporting actress for "The Wrestler."

Meanwhile, Mickey Rourke was named best actor for his role in "The Wrestler," with Heath Ledger winning best supporting actor for "The Dark Knight."

Other winners included Tom McCarthy, who took best original screenplay for "The Visitor," and Donald Graham Burt, who was honored with the award for best production design for "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button."

San Diego's film critics also picked "Man on Wire" as best documentary, "Let the Right One In" as best foreign language film, and "WALL-E" as best animated film.

And finally, the cast of "Frost/Nixon" received the prize for best ensemble performance, while Richard Jenkins won the 2008 Body of Work award.
