Sam Worthington in intense 'The Debt' trailer

Here's a really intense trailer for John Madden's upcoming thriller "The Debt," which is now on schedule for a release Dec. 29, 2010. It's a remake of Assaf Bernstein’s Israeli film “Ha-Hov," and it looks good!

The film follows three Israeli intelligence agents (Sam Worthington, Jessica Chastain & Marton Csokas) who catch a Nazi war criminal during the 1960s but never grant him an official trail.

But more than 30 years later, when their target’s escape threatens to expose their old cover-up, one of the agents is forced to track him (Jesper Christensen) down and eliminate him once and for all.

'Clash of the Titans' sequel set...

Clash of the Titans

This year's remake of "Clash of the Titans" sucked big time, but the movie went on to bag close to $500 million worldwide, and that's obviously enough for Warner Bros. to develop a sequel asap.

David Johnson and Dan Mazeau have been brought on board to write the script, according to Variety. Johnson also penned last year's "Orphan." Louis Leterrier won't be back to direct the second one.

I heard he ran into issues with the studio in terms of creative control during filming for the first "Clash of the Titans," so I understand his departure. Plus, the end result really disappointed (even in 3D).

Movie Review: "Clash of the Titans"

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: March 30, 2010

The players: Director: Louis Leterrier, Writers: Travis Beacham, Phil Hay, Matt Manfredi, Cast: Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Raplh Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Mads Mikkelsen

Facts of interest: Leterrier also helmed "The Incredible Hulk."

The plot: As the gods ruling the world are acting like rebellious teenagers, Perseus is the only one who can battle the bad guys and prevent an ugly war.

Our thoughts: Louis Leterrier’s “Clash of the Titans” is one big, noisy mess of a movie I believe doesn’t deserve to exist. The film somehow managed to score a bunch of positive reviews from the nation’s top critics, and I’m still trying to figure out why. In my book, this is a lame adventure cursed with terrible dialogue, dragging pace and mediocre performances.

New 'Clash of the Titans' featurette has arrived

What I've seen of "Clash of the Titans" so far has really impressed me, and to tell you the truth, I am quite excited about the film's 3D release April 2, 2010. A new featurette is now online, so watch it below.

"Clash" is a sort of "Percy Jackson" for adults, and the film follows Perseus (Sam Worthington) who is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), the vengeful god of the underworld.

With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to rescue a charming princess and defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash all hell on earth.

Mads Mikkelsen, Alexa Davalos, Liam Neeson, Danny Huston co-star in the flick directed by Louis Leterrier ("The Incredible Hulk"). In this clip, the cast briefly chats about the film's central characters.

Lots of casting news to cover this week, and here is a list of some of the more important ones from across the Web:

- Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy in the "Harry Potter" flicks, will star in "The Apparition," which also features "Twilight" actress Ashley Greene. The flick follows a young couple haunted by some kind of supernatural presence generated during a college experiment (Variety).

- Sam Worthington, star of "Avatar" and upcoming "Clash of the Titans," will star in Ami Canaan Mann's "The Fields," in which he plays a homicide detective investigating murders in the Texas bayous. Michael Mann, father of the director, will produce. Don Ferrarone wrote the script (via THR).

Sam Worthington to board 'Dracula Year Zero'

Sam Worthington in next Dracula movie?

Fresh off the success of James Cameron's "Avatar," actor Sam Worthington is now in talks to star in Alex Proyas' upcoming vampire adventure "Dracula Year Zero," which is currently set up at Universal.

The story will focus on the origin of Dracula, depicting him as a hero with flaws caught in a love story in a world ruled by war and magic. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless wrote the spec for the flick.

Nothing else has been confirmed, but it looks like "Dracula Year Zero" (what a shitty title!) could open in 2011. No budget has been announced, and no start day has been confirmed yet at this point.

'Clash of the Titans' reshoots and going 3D?

Sam Worthington's next film is an adventure epic titled "Clash of the Titans." It is directed by Louis Leterrier and will open March 26, 2010. It will also do more shooting, and it may end up being shown in 3D.

The Los Angeles Times recently spoke with Worthington, and the actor said Warner Bros. increased the budget for the flick, enabling the filmmakers to go back out and shoot more footage.

"We're going to be going back and shooting more scenes for it, they cut loose with some money so we can add to it," Worthington said. "We're going to be shooting more scenes in January..."

This is not the only news he spilled. He said, "The studio is also letting us add some gods and scenes. And they're talking about making the movie a 3D film." Sounds nice, considering the trailer looks awesome.

Movie Review: “Avatar”

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: December 10, 2009

The players: Director: James Cameron, Writer: James Cameron, Cast: Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez

Facts of interest: Estimated budget of the film: $230 million.

The plot: A former marine travels to a distant planet to win over the trust of the native people so the humans can crush their place and exploit their minerals.

Our thoughts: Cinemagoers worldwide have been waiting a long time for James Cameron’s passion project to hit the big screen, but now the wait is finally over.  “Avatar” has officially landed in theaters, and people are flocking to screenings to find out what all the hype surrounding the film is all about. One question remains though: will “Avatar” really change the way movies are made?

'Avatar' pulls $3.5M at midnight screenings

James Cameron's 3D sci-fi epic "Avatar" delivered a solid start as it scored an estimated $3.5 million from midnight screenings Friday. The film played at 2,000 locations (85 percent of the showings were in 3D).

Of course, "Avatar" didn't come close to any midnight record holders. "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" is still No. 1 with $26.3 million, followed by "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" with $22.2 million.

Still, "Avatar" is not a sequel, and this decent midnight run may help the film score a strong opening weekend gross. The film is now playing in 2D, 3D and 3D IMAX at approximately 3,452 locations.
