Watch Robert De Niro in 'Everybody's Fine' trailer

Everybody's Fine with Robert De Niro and Drew Barrymore

This looks like something that could be a sweet, amusing dramedy: Kirk Jones' upcoming "Everybody's Fine," which stars Robert De Niro, Kate Beckinsale, Drew Barrymore and Sam Rockwell and will hit theaters Dec. 4, 2009. Check out the film's first trailer after the jump.

In the flick, a widower (De Niro) embarks on an impromptu road trip to reconnect with each of his grown children only to discover that their lives are far from picture perfect.

Of course, the first thing that intrigues me here is the solid cast, which I'm really looking forward to experience in this film. I mean, who wouldn't want to see De Niro, Beckinsale, Barrymore and Rockwell work together?

'Choke' web reviews

If you're fan of Chuck Palahniuk, I'm sure you're quick excited about the release of Clark Gregg's big-screen adaptation of "Choke," which stars Sam Rockwell as man who pays for his mom’s hospital bills by pretending to choke on food in top-notch restaurants. You can read our review here. Let's briefly look at what some other online critics have to say about this:

• Josh Tyler at Cinema Blend: "'Choke' sets out from frame one to stake a claim as the most vile, seedy, morally bankrupt movie of the year. It succeeds, and it’s all the better for it."

Cinematical's Erik Davis: "While I'm a huge fan of Palahniuk, his books and especially "Choke," there's only one reason why I would recommend you check out this film, and one reason only: Sam Rockwell."

Review: "Choke"

Seen on: September 15, 2008

The players: Director: Clark Gregg, Writer: Clark Gregg, Cast: Sam Rockwell, Anjelica Huston, Kelly MacDonald, Brad Henke, Joel Grey

Facts of interest: "Choke" is based on the novel by Chuck Palahniuk, author of "Fight Club."

The plot: It's the story of a man who pays for his mom’s hospital bills by pretending to choke on food in top-notch restaurants.

Our thoughts: I wonder if Sam Rockwell has a clause in his contract that stipulates that he will only work if he is typecast as a neurotic bungler... let's just say that this may have been the first time Rockwell played a character who walks around for 30 minutes with a derelict anal bead in his rectum, but it doesn't feel like the first time I've seen him do that.

‘Grace’ director heads for ‘Winning Season’

James C. Strouse is set to write and helm “The Winning Season,” an indie comedy starring Sam Rockwell, Emma Roberts and Rob Corddry, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film follows a divorced father who decides to get his life back on the right track by coaching the local high school basketball team.

Rockwell plays the coach, while Corddry steps in as the school’s principal. Roberts stars as one of the players.

Strouse made his debut as screenwriter with 2005’s “Lonesome Jim.” He most recently wrote and directed “Grace Is Gone,” with John Cusack starring in the lead.

Rockwell (pictured above) can next be seen in Clark Gregg’s “Choke,” which is based on a novel by Chuck Palahniuk. He also stars in Ron Howard’s upcoming “Frost/Nixon.”

Roberts, the star of “Nancy Drew,” has recently completed “Hotel for Dogs,” which hits theaters early next year. As for Corddry, he will next star as Ali Fleischer in Oliver Stone’s “W.”
