"MacGruber," the "Saturday Night Life" parody of "MacGruber," is heading to the big screen with Ryan Phillippe and Val Kilmer in talks to star.
Jorma Taccone, creator of the charater, is set to direct the project, while Will Forte and Kristen Wiig are expected to reprise their roles from the TV sketches.
The original skits had Forte play MacGyver's son and Wiig portraying his assistant, who find themselves stuck in a room with a ticking time bomb.
The Hollywood Reporter says the feature film will head into a different direction. Written by Forte, Taccone and John Solomon, the script follows MacGruber as he's forced out of retirement to hunt down Cunth, a villain who possesses a nuclear bomb.
The trade reports Kilmer may play Cunth, with Phillippe on-board as an Army officer teaming up with the lead character. Phillippe was last seen in "Stop-Loss." Kilmer's got "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" coming up soon.
