Full trailer for 'Zookeeper' kinda disappoints

Kevin James stars in Zookeeper

Kevin James has a new comedy coming soon, and this time, he's playing a zookeeper trying to hook up with the girl of his dreams. The problem is he has no clue how to get the job done, and that's where the talking animals come in. It looks as ridiculous as it sounds. See for yourself in the new trailer after the jump.

In fact, "Zookeeper" looks like many other lame comedies James starred in recently. I respect James as a solid comedian who made TV a lot better when he was on the air, but his big-screen gigs certainly haven't given him the ability to show audiences what he can do. Being clumsy doesn't really cut it.

First poster for 'Zookeeper' disappoints

Poster for The Zookeeper

The first one-sheet for "The Zookeeper" with Kevin James has debuted online (via ComingSoon), and to be quite honest, it stinks. It's pretty boring and would probably have looked better with James on it.

The film, helmed by Frank Coraci, follows a zookeeper (James) who gets dating advice from his animals. Adam Sandler, Cher, Jon Favreau, Sylvester Stallone and Judd Apatow are providing animal voices.

Rosario Dawson stars as well, and yes, this already sounds pretty bad. Well, as long as James leaves out the fat jokes, we might have something here, who knows. Anyway, "The Zookeeper" opens July 8, 2011.

First poster for Tony Scott's 'Unstoppable' hits

The first poster for Tony Scott's upcoming action thriller "Unstoppable" has hit the Web, and you can check it out in full after the jump. Let me warn you though: there's nothing exciting about it at all.

"Unstoppable" follows an engineer (Washington) who boards a locomotive with a young conductor (Pine) and attempts to chase a large runaway freight train loaded with a bunch of toxic chemicals.

The film will arrive in theaters Nov. 12, 2010. If they want to keep us intereted in this project, they better start improving its marketing campaign. This is about as boring as a poster for an action flick can get.

Daily news dose: Anthony Mackie checks into 'Adjustment Bureau;' Moritz Bleibtreu is Mephisto

Anthony Mackie

Here is your dose of film news bits for Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009:

• Anthony Mackie ("The Hurt Locker") has signed on to star in George Nolfi's upcoming thriller "The Adjustment Bureau," based on a short story by Philip K. Dick. Matt Damon is on board to star as a promising congressman whose career takes a turn when he meets a beautiful ballet dancer, played by Emily Blunt. (Variety)

• German actor Moritz Bleibtreu, who was recently seen in "Der Baader Meinhof Komplex," will play Mephisto in Oskar Roehler's big-screen version of Goethe's "Faust." Of course, the film follows the classic story of a desperate man selling his soul to the devil for knowledge. I clearly remember this one from high school.

Based on the first of five children's books by Rick Riordan, the film follows the story of Poseidon's half-human son Percy, who sets out to prevent a war between gods in modern America. The Hollywood Reporter says Coogan is playing Hades, while Dawson is set to portray Persephone. Columbus, who also helmed two "Harry Potter" films, wrote the screenplay with Craig Titley.

Also starring in "Jackson" are Catherine Keener, Pierce Brosnan, Uma Thurman, Sean Bean, Kevin McKidd, Melina Kanakaredes, Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario and Brandon T. Jackson. So what about that 'Sin City 2'?

I've heard all kinds of things about "Sin City 2" over the past couple of months, but the one thing I would really like to know is: when will this movie actually happen?

Back in December, Frank Miller spilled a few details about the script being done and the movie potentially being ready to shoot by April. Well, April rolls around in less than a month, so that seems unlikely.

On the other hand, ComingSoon recently talked to Rosario Dawson, who played Gail in "Sin City" and will be back for the sequel. And according to her, "Sin City 2" seems to be moving forward... slowly.

"I just talked to Frank about it though and said he finished it a couple of months ago so I'm really excited to get it going," she said about the script. "Supposedly it's going to happen in 2009."

And here is what she told ComingSoon about her character in the sequel: "I get to wear a mask in this one. Is that specific enough?"

Okay, I guess that means we will see "Sin City 2" one day after all.

Review: "Seven Pounds"

Seen on: December 20, 2008

The players: Director: Gabriele Muccino, Writer: Grant Nieporte, Cast: Will Smith, Rosario Dawson, Woody Harrelson, Michael Ealy, Robinne Lee

Facts of interest: Muccino also directed Smith in "The Pursuit of Happyness."

The plot: Smith plays a troubles IRS agent who decides to forever change the lives of seven strangers.

Our thoughts: Following their collaboration in “The Pursuit of Happyness,” Will Smith reteams with Italian filmmaker Gabriele Muccino for “Seven Pounds,” an overlong, mushy drama that wastes two hours following a desperate man on his quest to personal redemption. That’s right, if you love seeing Smith making the same sorrowful face and break out in tears throughout an entire movie, this one’s for you.

'Seven Pounds' web reviews

Following their collaboration in "The Pursuit of Happyness," Will Smith reteams with Gabriele Muccino for "Seven Pounds," a drama in which Smith plays an IRS agent who heads out ot change the lives of seven strangers. Rosario Dawson, Woody Harrelson and Barry Pepper co-star, and this is what online film critics say about the film:

• Brad Brevet at RopeOfSilicon: "This isn’t a bad film per se it is just one that will play to the more emotional moviegoer that tends to view a film as it progresses rather than trying to figure out the mystery at its core."

• Brian Orndorf at Collider: "It's difficult to paint an accurate portrait of "Seven Pounds" without giving too much away, but the end certainly doesn't justify the protracted means."

Joblo's Chris Bumbray: "All in all, I liked 'Seven Pounds,' but it frustrated me, as it could have easily been an excellent film rather than simply a decent one."
