Danny Huston boards Scott's 'Robin Hood'

Danny Huston cast in Robin Hood

Actor Danny Huston has officially joined Russell Crowe in Ridley Scott's upcoming adventure epic "Robin Hood," which is currently shooting.

The Hollywood Reporter says Huston will play King Richard, also known as Richard the Lionheart. Crowe plays the title character. Cate Blanchett, Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand, Vanessa Redgrave and Alan Doyle co-star in the flick.

Ethan Reiff, Cyrus Voris and Brian Helgeland wrote the script for "Hood," which is set for release May 14, 2010. Set photos have already appeared online.

Huston is someone who can easily play both a likable and nasty character, and I'm really looking forward to seeing him in this. His recent credits include "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," "How to Lose Friends & Alienate People" and "30 Days of Night."

Russell Crowe is currently filming Ridley Scott's upcoming adventure "Robin Hood," and the folks at USA Today have posted a first photo of the actor as the film's lead character. As producer Brian Grazer correctly points out, Rob does not longer have the good old tights. But he does have a big bow and shiny arrow. Cate Blanchett, Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand, Vanessa Redgrave and Alan Doyle co-star in the flick, which I believe is currently set for release May 14, 2010. Check out Crowe as Hood just below.

Movie briefs: 'Fast & Furious 5' already being assembled?

A fifth Fast and Furious film is in the works, and Vin Diesel and Paul Walker will return• With "Fast & Furious" collecting the big bucks at the box office ($116 million to date), a fifth film is already in early stages of development, according to Paul Walker. The actor recently talked to 104.3 MYfm, revealing another sequel will definitely happen. “But without question, with the way things opened up, Vin and I will be coming back, we’re making a fifth one, and we’re going to Brazil, that’s it,” he said. (via LA Times)

• It's no news Universal will make a fourth "Bourne" flick, but the real question is: where is the project at right now? According to Frank Marshall's twittering, the film should be ready for summer 2011, with a draft expected to be completed by June this year. Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon will return, and the film will be the first not based on a novel by Robert Ludlum.

MTV recently talked to Michael Bay, who said his upcoming sequel "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" will be four minutes longer than the previous flick. That means the movie will run for 147 minutes! I really don't care about length, as long as it is as entertaining as its predecessor. "Fallen" opens June 24, 2009.

• William Hurt is the latest to join Ridley Scott's upcoming "Robin Hood." The Hollywood Reporter says Hurt plays William Marshall, the Earl of Pembroke. Russell Crowe is the leading man, while Cate Blanchett plays Maid Marian. The film is already shooting.

Ridley Scott says 'Nottingham' gets new title

The folks at MTV recently talked to Ridley Scott about his upcoming project "Nottingham," and one of the first things the filmmaker touched on was the title:

“Oh yes, I think we are just going to call it ‘Robin Hood’,” Scott told MTV. “We start in almost two months.”

Okay, with this taken care of, let's move on to the Russell Crowe playing more than one role thing. Apparently, Scott has some news to share with people about that as well:

“[Crowe as both Robin and the Sheriff of Nottingham] was an idea so far back, way back when at the time I had this proposed to me, and I read it and thought, ‘I don’t really know what it does for it, but it’s alright’,” he told MTV.

“It is better to simply have the evolution of a character called Robin Hood, who will come out of a point in the Crusades which is the end,” he added.

Scott had more to say about the film, and you can check out the whole interview here.
