Robert Zemeckis to do live-action 'Timeless'

It looks like filmmaker Robert Zemeckis is heading back to live-action for an upcoming time travel project. The film is titled "Timeless," and Mike Thompson wrote the script. Warner Bros. is developing the feature.

Not much is known about the story, but if Zemeckis seals a deal, it will be his first live-action flick since "Cast Away." He's been busy with animation in "The Polar Express," "Beowulf" and "A Christmas Carol."

Some of his other credits include "Contact," "Forrest Gump," and of course, the classic "Back to the Future" flicks. So yeah, I would love for him to return to live-action filmmaking! (Source: Deadline)

The film is a remake of 1968's animated movie "Yellow Submarine." In the flick, the Beatles team up with a solider to bring peace to Pepperland, where they clash with the Blue Meanies. Zemeckis wrote the screenplay for the remake.

Our thoughts: Charles Dickens’ beloved holiday story “A Christmas Carol” gets the 3D treatment, and the result is a visually stunning big-screen experience I’m sure many cinemagoers out there will enjoy to the fullest extent. As far as I’m concerned, my feelings about this one are mixed.

Robert Zemeckis boards 3D Submarine' for Disney

Filmmaker Robert Zemeckis is teaming up with Walt Disney to develop a new "Yellow Submarine," a 3D movie paying tribute to The Beatles. The film is an updated version of George Dunning's 1968 movie of the same title, and Disney apparently wants to have it ready by summer 2012.

Variety says the studio has been working to seal the deal for quite some time, considering the whole rights thing has been quite messy. In the end, everything went well enough, and Zemeckis now has access to 16 Beatles songs, including "Baby You’re a Rich Man," "All You Need Is Love," "When I’m 64" and "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds."
