First look at Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus'

One of Ridley Scott's upcoming films is a sci-fi thriller entitled "Prometheus," and at this stage, not all too much is known about the project. That said, 20th Century Fox released the image you can see above, and it gives you a tiny bit of an idea where this project is headed.

Officially, this is what we know about this thing right now: it follows a team of scientists on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.

Starring in the film are Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Sean Harris. "Prometheus" will open June 8, 2012, and we should know more about it after Fox presents the flick at Comic-Con today. Damon Lindelof wrote the script.

Gemma Arterton to star in new 'Alien' films?

Ridley Scott' is busy prepping those "Alien" prequels we will soon get to watch on the big screen, and that means it's also time to think about casting. Word out there is Gemma Arterton is in the mix.

Well, let's say she's being considered for the films. Digital Spy reports Arterton revealed she will be meeting with Scott. He was apparently impressed by her in "The Disappearance of Alice Creed."

That's it for now. We'll let you know once we hear or read more about this. Arterton has been busy, appearing in "Clash of the Titans," "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time" and upcoming "Tamara Drewe."

Director alert: Joseph Kosinski to direct 'Archangels'

Joseph Kosinski ("Tron: Legacy") is pretty much set to direct "Archangels" for New Regency, with Tony Scott and Ridley Scott attached to produce the sci-fi project based on a spec from Andrew Will.

Heat Vision says the film is set in the future, following a man who is part of an elite force trained to go after aliens that make it past Earth's defense system. Think of it as a serious "Men in Black" movie...

Oh no! Ridley Scott makes a YouTube movie?

We won't be seeing a fiction piece about how YouTube came to being anytime soon, but Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald are teaming up to create a YouTube documentary about people posting videos.

The movie, titled "Life in a Day," will include clips and videos people load to YouTube July 24, 2010. This could obviously be a cool project and all, but it depends on what footage makes it into the flick.

To tell you the truth though, I have some faith in Macdonald. I just hope he won't fall for most of the YouTube crap and pick those monotonous clips of cats sitting on toilets and kids biting each other.

Ridley Scott chats 'Alien' prequel

As you may know, Ridley Scott is working on prequel to "Alien," and the folks at MTV recently got to talk to the man and asked him a bunch of questions about where this project will be heading. Let's find out.

"As we speak, I've got a pile of pages next to me; it's like the fourth draft. It's a work in progress, but we're not dreaming it up anymore. We know what the story is," he told MTV. He said the project is rolling.

On whether he will consult with original alien designer, H.R. Giger, Scott said, "Yeah, he's still around. Once I get more serious and get going, and the big wheels start turning, we'll certainly talk."

'Robin Hood' gets intense feature trailer

Russell Crowe kicks ass as Robin Hood

We've already seen a powerful trailer for Ridley Scott's upcoming action adventure "Robin Hood," and now the film even has a big feature trailer, which I suggest you check out below. It's as energetic as its predecessor, and it definitely delivers the goods. Starring Russell Crowe as the lead character, the film is set for release in theaters May 14, 2010. Mark Strong and Max von Sydow co-star.

Scott's "Robin Hood" chronicles the life of the famous expert archer, previously interested only in self-preservation, from his service in King Richard's army against the French. Upon Richard’s death, Robin travels to Nottingham, a town suffering from the corruption of a despotic sheriff and crippling taxation, where he falls for the spirited widow Lady Marion (Cate Blanchett).

Ridley Scott's 'Alien' prequel in 3D?

It looks like Ridley Scott's untitled "Alien" prequel could end up hitting theaters in 3D. No, Scott didn't say that himself, but someone else did: "Alien" art-director Roger Christian when he spoke with Shadow Locked: "Ridley's doing the next Alien in 3D."

"Ridley told me some of his ideas when we were here in Toronto. He has a very clear understanding of where this should go. They kind of stopped dead one of the greatest horror franchises there's ever been, and it had legs to go on," he said.

Last thing I heard, Jon Spaihts was on board to write the script for the prequel. Scott's next film is "Robin Hood." To tell you the truth, this does not surprise me. Pretty much every genre or franchise (new or old) is heading to 3D, and so far, it has worked out well.
