Yes, 'Resident Evil: Afterlife' still No. 1 overseas

While it's pretty much gone here in North America, Paul W.S. Anderson's "Resident Evil: Afterlife" continues to own the international box office, even though numbers have been down overseas as well.

Still, "Afterlife" came in first this weekend with $15 million in ticket sales, reaching a total haul of $181.2 million. Not bad for the fourth film in the popular series. The next one is coming for sure...

Julia Roberts is doing fine overseas as well, with "Eat Pray Love" finishing second with $13.4 million. The film has grossed close to $40 million on the international circuit. It will further expand next week.

'Resident Evil 5' happening soon?

Milla Jovovich says Resident Evil 5 is coming

Now that "Resident Evil: Afterlife" killed it at the box office, why not talk about the next installment in the popular series? That's what Milla Jovovich already did, saying a fifth flick is coming for sure!

Vulture reports the actress spoke about "Resident Evil 5" at a recent event at the Lincoln Center. “So we’re definitely going to make another one,” she said, referring to the box office success of "Afterlife."

She mentioned her husband Paul W.S. Anderson is already playing with ideas, which would indicate that he consider writing the script (I hope he doesn't) if indeed a fifth film is happening in the near future.

Movie Review: "Resident Evil: Afterlife"

Seen on: September 10, 2010

The players: Director: Paul W.S. Anderson, Writer: Paul W.S. Anderson, Cast: Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, Shawn Roberts, Kim Coates

Facts of interest: None.

The plot: Alice heads to Los Angeles, where she encounters some survivors and comes up with a plan to reach a safe haven.

Our thoughts: Yes, “Resident Evil: Afterlife” is already the fourth film in the big-screen series based on the popular video game, and just like many zombies out there, this franchise just won’t die. No, not all of the “Resident Evil” flicks were disasters (I enjoyed the first and third), but this latest sequel proves that it may be time to call it quits, and that despite the fact that the 3D in this thing looks pretty cool.

Three new clips from 'Resident Evil: Afterlife'

Paul W.S. Anderson's "Resident Evil: Afterlife" is invading theaters Sept. 10, 2010, and here are three brand-new clips from the upcoming 3D horror sequel. The film stars Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter.

The three clips below are pretty action-loaded, proving yet again (like the trailer) that heavy CG is all over the place in this fourth installment of the series. It will be interesting to see how this all looks in 3D.

In the sequel, Alice continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend.

New 'Resident Evil: Afterlife' poster looks okay

A brand-new poster for Paul W.S. Anderson's "Resident Evil: Afterlife" has appeared online at IGN, and you can check it out after the jump. It's not a memorable one, but I admit I still like it. It's not bad.

In the sequel, which will open in 3D, Alice (Milla Jovovich), continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights.

Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead takes them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead.
