'Red Tails' to possibly hit theaters in January

The George Lucas-produced drama "Red Tails" may finally have found a release date. According to director Anthony Hemingway's Twitter feed, the film will hit the big screen in January 2012. This Lucasfilm production focuses on the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, who were the first African-American pilots to fly in a combat squadron during World War II and stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, and Bryan Cranston. Although the director has made this statement, Lucasfilm has not confirmed the date. We will keep you posted on any updates. (via Variety)

Terrence Howard boards 'Red Tails'

And another WWII flick is heading our way. It's titled "Red Tails," and it will star Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr., Bryan Cranston, Nate Parker, David Oyelowo, Tristan Wilds, Method Man, Lee Tergesen, Ne-Yo, Elijah Kelley, Andre Royo and Jesse Williams.

According to Variety, the plot follows a group of pilots who took a stand against racism in the military and became the Tuskegee Airmen, the first African-American fighter pilots in the U.S. military. John Ridley, screenwriter of "U Turn" and "Undercover Brother," wrote the script.

Anthony Hemingway, whose credits include episodes for "ER," "CSI: NY" and "The Wire," is set to direct the project, which George Lucas will executive produce. Lucasfilm will also back the film financially.

Terrence Howard, who starred in "Iron Man" but won't return for the sequel, can next be seen alongside Channing Tatum in "Fighting."
