First look: Henry Cavill as Superman!

Warner Brothers has unleashed the first official photo from Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot "Man of Steel," and I have to admit, lead actor Henry Cavill looks quite badass as Clark Kent in his costume. Don't you think? See above...

The film will open June 14, 2013, and the cast includes Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Martha and Jonathan Kent, Michael Shannon as General Zod and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, leader at the Daily Planet.

Superman must face off against Zod and Faora (Antje Traue). The hero's real parents are also on board, with Russell Crowe portraying daddy Jor-El and Julia Ormond playing Lara Lor-Van. I don't know about you, but I am ready for more images.

Here is the trailer for 'The Thing' reboot

The poster for Universal Pictures' "The Thing" reboot was released just two days ago, and now the trailer has found its way to the online world. Check it out after the jump. Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. directed the horror flick that serves as prelude to the 1982 classic.

The plot? At an Antarctica research site, the discovery of an alien craft leads to a confrontation between graduate student Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and scientist Dr. Sander Halvorson (Ulrich Thomsen).

Co-starring in "The Thing" are Eric Christian Olsen, Joel Edgerton, Ulrich Thomsen and Kim Bubbs. This trailer doesn't look all that frightening, and for some reason, it strongly reminds me of a certain "X-Files" episode. Copy much?

Alexandra Daddario boards 'Chainsaw Massacre 3D'

Back in the days when it came to casting "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief," actress Alexandra Daddario caused quite the debate when it was announced she would play Annabeth. This time, I doubt something like that will happen.

Daddario is now set to star in the upcoming "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D," which John Luessenhop ("Takers") will direct. Adam Marcus and Debra Sullivan wrote the script, which picks up after the 1974 film, according to Variety.

"Chainsaw 3D" is set for release Oct. 5, 2012, and Daddario is set for the lead character, who's running from Leatherface. She also starred in "Hall Pass," and she should be back as Annabeth in "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters."

David Dobkin to direct ‘King Arthur’ reboot

Warner Bros. has just secured a script for the re-imagining of “King Arthur,” rebooting the franchise that floundered back in 2004; the Jerry Bruckheimer produced flick that starred Clive Owen and Keira Knightly.

Cinema Blend says David Dobkin (“Wedding Crashers” and the upcoming “The Change-Up") is set to helm the period flick. With Dobkin in charge, one wonders if the film will take a more light-hearted approach, something along the lines of his own “Shanghi Knights."

Let’s just hope it doesn’t remind us of “Your Highness” or “Black Knight.”

New writers for new 'Ninja Turtles' movie

Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action reboot of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," and it looks like the project has attracted new writers: Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, the guys who recently tackled "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol."

Deadline says the two are now set to write "TMNT." Appelbaum and Nemec's credits include shows such as "Alias," "Life on Mars" and "Happy Town," and they also recently rewrote "Now You See Me," which Louis Leterrier will helm.

Appelbaum and Nemec are not the first writers brought on board to write the "Turtles" flick. John Fusco was first supposed to handle the job, but he was later replaced with Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Guess they're out as well.

'Daredevil' reboot finds writer

Twentieth Century Fox is still very keen on rebooting its "Daredevil" franchise, and it looks like the project is finally moving forward. THR says Brad Caleb Kane is all set to write the script, which will be based on Miller and David Mazzucchelli’s "Born Again."

Kane is both a writer and producer for television's "Fringe." David Slade ("30 Days of Night") is attached to direct the "Daredevil" relaunch. The last time we saw the blind superhero was in 2003, when Ben Affleck played the lead in a mediocre adaptation.

Zack Snyder to direct 'Superman'

Here's the news of the day: Zack Snyder has been picked to direct the new "Superman" reboot for Warner Bros. He was one of several directors in the running for the job, and now it's official he will be at the helm.

Christopher Nolan is mentoring the project he is develping with David Goyer. Nolan also considered Tony Scott, Matt Reeves, Jonathan Liebesman and Duncan Jones, but I guess Snyder impressed him most.

Deadline reports Snyder confirmed the news as well, saying he is excited about creating the new "Man of Steel." He will attack the project as soon as he is done with the post-production on "Sucker Punch."

'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' gets new writers

Last year, news broke that John Fusco would be writing the live-action reboot of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," but Paramount Pictures is now heading into a different direction. It's time for new writers.

Deadline reports Art Marcum and Matt Holloway have been hired to write "Turtles." Paramount is eager to get this thing into production for a release in 2012, so they have to write a draft for October.

Wait, who are these guys? Holloway and Marcum co-wrote "Iron Man" (yay!) and "Punisher: War Zone" (damn). They also penned the upcoming "Highlander" reboot. Film will likely focus on the turtles' origin.

Lame titles for next 'Die Hard' & 'Fantastic Four'?

We already know a new "Die Hard" movie and a "Fantastic Four" reboot are in development, but what about possible titles for the flicks? Ain't It Cool News has a rumor for you, and it ain't pretty.

Essentially, rumor is the "Die Hard" sequel could be titled "Die Hard 24/7." As for the other one, it could be named "Fantastic Four Reborn." They both sound rather lame, and I can only hope they're working titles.

The folks at ComingSoon did some research though, and they checked the WHOIS database to discover that Fox has in fact registered these names as online domain names. Interesting. We'll know more soon.

Fantastic Four

It's been a big day for Marvel news today. First, we learned that Walt Disney is going to acquire Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion, and now comes word that 20th Century Fox is already preparing a "Fantastic Four" reboot.

Variety says the studio has hired Akiva Goldsman to produce the upcoming action film. Michael Green, whose credits include "Smallville," "Everwood" and "Heroes," is set to write the script.
