New poster for 'Real Steel' arrives

Last week, we got a first look at Shawn Levy's upcoming action adventure "Real Steel" via a so-so trailer, and this week, we're in for a poster, courtesy of Coming Soon. Not too much to see here, but you can check it out right after the jump.

In the film, Hugh Jackman plays a trainer who finds an old rusty robot and ends up training him at the request of his kid. The robot is a fast learner, and before you know it, they're on the road competing big time. Dakota Goyo and Evangeline Lilly co-star.

New trailer for 'Real Steel' boasts robot action

Ever wondered what boxing might look like in the future? According to Shawn Levy's new action flick "Real Steel," robots will dominate the sport. The new and full trailer for the upcoming flick with Hugh Jackman debuted on Yahoo! today, and you can watch it via the embed after the jump. If you ask me, the whole thing just looks and feels a little odd.

Maybe I just can't get used to the silly idea behind this thing. Jackman plays a trainer who finds an old rusty robot and ends up training him at the request of his kid. The robot is a fast learner, and before you know it, they're on the road competing big time. And of course, drama is right around the corner as well.

First photos from 'Real Steel' debut online

The first two photos from Shawn Levy's futuristic robot boxing movie "Real Steel" have debuted on the Web, and you can check them out above and right after the jump. The movie opens Nov. 18, 2010.

The still above shows lead actor Hugh Jackman with Levy on set, and the one below shows Jackman in action with his weird robot. Looking only at this, I have no clue what to think of the flick at this stage.

Okay. It looks odd. The film focuses on a world in which human boxing is forbidden. Big humanoid robots step in to take over the sport, and Jackman will play a man who finds and trains a talented robot boxer.

Hugh Jackman ready to box in 'Real Steel'

Hugh Jackman, star of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and "Australia," is in talks to play the lead character in Shawn Levy's upcoming futuristic robot boxing movie "Real Steel," which DreamWorks is developing.

Set in the future, the film focuses on a world in which human boxing is forbidden. Instead, big humanoid robots step in to take over the sport. Variety says Jackman will play a man who finds a talented robot boxer.

John Gatins, the man behind "Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story" and "Coach Carter," is rewriting the most recent draft. Dan Gilroy and Les Bohem worked on previous drafts. Levy is working on the script as well.

Shawn Levy to direct 'Real Steel' for DreamWorks

"Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" director Shawn Levy is set to helm DreamWorks' upcoming "Real Steel," a futuristic robot boxing movie Peter Berg was supposed to direct. With Berg out, Levy will now take a stab at it.

Set in the future, the film focuses on a world in which human boxing is forbidden. Instead, big humanoid robots step in to take over the sport. The flick follows a father and his troubled son, who decide to train one heck of an awesome fighter.
