Perelman in talks to helm ‘Poltergeist’ remake

Nothing is confirmed at this point, but Vadim Perelman is in negotiations to direct MGM’s remake of “Poltergeist,” according to Blood-Disgusting.com.

A couple of weeks ago, it was announced that Stiles White and Juliet Snowden would pen the script for the new version of Tobe Hooper’s 1982 horror classic.

Ukraine-born Perelman previously directed the Oscar-nominated “House of Sand and Fog” and “The Life Before Her Eyes.”

I know this is unforgivable, but I have yet to watch “Fog.” It’s been sitting on my DVD shelf forever, and I’ve heard great things about it. Considering the limited number of new releases this week, I may get a chance to finally check it out.

What do you guys think of this? Would Perelman be an adequate pick to handle such a remake? Let me know.

Short takes: 'Poltergeist' remake script details

• "Poltergeist" is the latest to go through the remake machine, and according to Variety, Stiles White and Juliet Snowden will write the script for MGM. The two also collaborated on the screenplays for Alex Proyas' "Knowing" and Martin Campbell's "The Birds."

LatinoReview recently talked to Tyrese Gibson, who said he'll be involved in the upcoming big-screen version of "The A-Team." Now the question remains who he's going to play. B.A. Baracus, maybe? As far as I know, Ice Cube is also in the race to star in the role that once belonged to Mr. T. We'll see who wins the race.

• In a recent interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Russell Crowe said he's eyeing the main role in a biopic about American comedian Bill Hicks, who died of cancer at the age of 32. Crowe will next star in "Body of Lies."

• Dean Cain, Conrad Janis, Stephen Lunsford and Walter Phelan are only a few to join Michael Emanuel's directorial debut "Maneater," a horror flick about an ex-FBI profiler and a sheriff who investigate mysterious murders. THR says the flick is based on a Native American legend.
