'Salt' sequel happening soon!

Let me tell you right away: I loved "Salt." It's one heck of a crazy, over-the-top thriller, but I enjoyed the hell out of it. Consequently, I'm quite excited about Sony moving ahead with the sequel, which Kurt Wimmer is writing, according to Deadline.

Angelina Jolie is expected to return as Evelyn Salt, who in the first film tried to save the world from some evil Russians. Let's hope Wimmer will come up with something just as intriguing in the follow-up. I also hope Phillip Noyce will return to direct. You?

Movie Review: "Salt"

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: July 23, 2010

The players: Director: Phillip Noyce, Writer: Kurt Wimmer, Cast: Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, Chiwetel Ejiofor, August Diehl

Facts of interest: Noyce also helmed "Rabbit-Proof Fence."

The plot: Angelina Jolie plays Salt, a CIA officer on the run after she's accused of being a Russian sleeper spy.

Our thoughts: Phillip Noyce’s new action thriller “Salt” may just be one of the most absurd films I’ve seen in this genre, but to tell you the truth, it’s also one awesome big-screen ride. Starring Angelina Jolie in a role she has absolutely no trouble mastering, this fast-paced flick combines intense action and a bunch of clever twists to create quite the entertaining atmosphere.

John Brownlow to write 'Captain Blood' remake

John Brownlow is set to write the screenplay for the Warner Bros. remake of 1935's "Captain Blood," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Directed by Michael Curtiz, the original film starred Errol Flynn and focused on a doctor who becomes a pirate after being convicted of treason and sold into slavery.

Phillip Noyce, whose credits include "The Saint" and "Rabbit-Proof Fence," is attached to direct Brownlow's script.

Brownlow also wrote the screenplay for Christine Jeffs' biopic "Sylvia." He recently completed writing "The Hero" and "Sabbatical," two projects currently in development.

Yay, another pirate flick? Maybe Johnny Depp could play Blood. How about that?
