Movie Review: “Pandorum”

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: September 27, 2009

The players: Director: Christian Alvart, Writer: Travis Milloy, Cast: Dennis Quaid, Ben Foster, Cam Gigandet, Norman Reedus, Cung Le

Facts of interest: Christian Alvart also directed "Case 39."

The plot: Two members of a spacecraft crew wake up on board and have no clue who they are and what's going on...

Our thoughts: Walk into “Pandorum” with low expectations, and you may be pleasantly surprised. No, Christian Alvart’s sci-fi horror flick is by no means a masterpiece, but it boasts a series of atmospheric scenes and scary moments I found quite enjoyable to watch. In other words, “Pandorum” is not a complete disaster.

So-so motion poster for 'Pandorum' hits

Ben Foster in Pandorum

In case you've missed it, motion posters are the new cool thing to promote films online. They're essentially flash vidoes or other similar files that feature a moving poster. While we've seen a couple of great ones of this kind recently, I've also come across some rather lame ones.

Take the new motion poster for "Pandorum." It's cool they put the effort into making one, but to be honest, this one's getting pretty annoying after, say, three seconds. You can check it out for yourself after the jump, and let me know what you think. I'm not impressed.

New movie posters: 'Pandorum;' 'Avatar;' 'Priest'

It's a slow news day today, so I decided to do some movie poster catch-up, and here is what I came up with: three new one-sheets for "Avatar," "Pandorum" and "Priest."

The first poster below is from "Avatar" and shows Zoe Saldana as Neytiri. The film follows a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption, discovery and unexpected love, as he leads a heroic battle to save a civilization.

Next up is a one-sheet of Paul Bettany in Scott Stewart's "Priest," which follows a warrior priest who turns his back on the church to free his kidnapped niece from the hands of some ruthless vampires. The film is based on TokyoPop's comic book.

Finally, check out this final poster for Christian Alvart's sci-fi horror flick "Pandorum." Here's the synopsis: When two men emerge from a deep sleep in the middle of space, they discover that they have no memories of who they are and where they're going.
