Michael Vartan joins Zoe Saldana's 'Colombiana'

Michael Vartan is teaming up with Zoe Saldana in "Colombiana," an action flick Olivier Megaton will direct from a script co-written by Luc Besson. Vartan is starring as Dr. Tom Wakefield on TV's "Hawthorne."

Heat Vision says the "Colombiana" follows a woman who becomes a hitwoman after witnessing her parents' murder in Bogota. Now she's trying to seek revenge by killing the dude responsible for the act.

Vartan is set to play her boyfriend. He has no clue what she's up to. A release date for the film is set for Sept. 2, 2011. Vartan, who is known for his role in "Alias," also starred in "Demoted." Good actor, for sure.

Our thoughts: Jason Statham suits up as Frank Martin for the third time in “Transporter 3,” and while his fancy car is the only thing that has positively evolved over the past years, everything around it just got worse. Directed by Olivier Megaton, this third installment takes way too many wrong turns, resulting in an unnecessary mess of an action flick that’s neither worth your time nor money.

Ready for the third round of ridiculous car stunts and plenty of brainless fighting? If you can't get enough of Jason Statham and Frank Martin, Olivier Megaton's "Transporter 3" is certainly for you. • Josh Tyler at Cinema Blend: "When the film isn’t wasting your time with awful bad guy monologuing or bumbling, unrelated police work, it’s engaged in a variety of fairly humdrum, often stupid action sequences."

• Collider's Brian Orndorf: "Still, the thrill has been effectively amputated from the franchise, diminishing Frank to a banal action figure instead of a guilty pleasure."

Another, better 'Transporter 3' clip hits!

Yesterday I posted a new clip from Olivier Megaton's upcoming "Transporter 3," and I complained about how identical the fight scene in it looks to a specific action scene in the first film. Although the action in the "Transporter" flicks goes a little too far at times for my taste, this new clip after the jump looks much better.

Sure, what you see below is probably just as ridiculous as many other sequences in the film, but I've never seen Jason Statham use a bike like this one to catch his car. I guess that's one of those new things I was hoping to see in this third installment. Now I hope there'll be more of that. "Transporter 3" opens Nov. 26, 2008.

One more ‘Transporter 3’ TV spot pops up

Although I didn’t really enjoy “Transposter 2,” I admit I am kind of looking forward to Olivier Megaton’s sequel “Transporter 3,” which arrives in theaters Nov. 26.

The story line will probably be even less interesting and more ridiculous than that of its predecessor, but if the action is right and Statham delivers a fun ride, why not give it a shot?

Here’s a new TV spot from Olivier Megaton’s upcoming action sequel “Transporter 3,” in which Jason Statham returns as butt-kicking transporter Frank Martin.

Also on board are François Berléand, Robert Knepper, Natalya Rudakova and Jeroen Krabbé. Check out the footage right after the jump.

Brand-new 'Transporter 3' trailer debuts!

A brand-new trailer for Olivier Megaton's upcoming action spectacle "Transporter 3" has just debuted online. Jason Statham reprises his role as Frank Martin, the crazy transporter who goes after the world's most ruthless criminals. Robert Knepper, Natalya Rudakova and François Berléand star.

Corey Yuen's first "Transporter" pulled $25.2 million here in the U.S., while Louis Leterrier's sequel "Transporter 2" brought in $43 million. It will be interestning to see how this third installment matches up against its predecessor. I say it will easily top those amounts.
