'Bonnie and Clyde' head back to the big screen

It looks like "Limitless" director Neil Burger currently has a lot on his plate. On top of recently taking over the video game adaptation of "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune" for Columbia, Deadline is reporting that the director will be teaming up with screenwriter Sheldon Turner in an attempt to bring the infamous outlaws Bonnie and Clyde back to life.

This new film will be based on the biography by author Jeff Guinn entitled "Go Down Together: The True, Untold Story of Bonnie and Clyde", which provides a less romanticized view of the couple than the 1967 Arthur Penn film.

Yet, before you get all excited about an even darker film about this iconic couple, it should be noted that the film is being produced by Marissa McMahon. She is the wife of Shane McMahon, the son of the pro-wrestling mogul Vince McMahon. While I hope this isn't the case, don't be too surprised if the role made famous by Warren Beatty is given to John Cena.

Neil Burger to direct 'Uncharted: Drake's Fortune'

David O. Russell was supposed to direct the big-screen adaptation of the popular video game "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune," but after he left, Columbia went on the hunt for a new helmer. Now it looks like they got one: Neil Burger, who's attached to the project.

Burger last directed the fairly entertaining "Limitless" with Bradley Cooper. He will also work on the script for the film. The story follows a modern-day fortune hunter on an exploration for the fabled treasure of El Dorado, leading to the discovery of a forgotten island.

The search turns deadly when Nathan Drake becomes stranded on the island and hunted by mercenaries. Outnumbered and outgunned, Drake and his companions must fight to survive as they begin to unravel the terrible secrets hidden on the Island. (via CS)

Anna Friel to explore 'Dark Fields'

The last time we saw Anna Friel ("Goal II: Living the Dream") on the big screen, it was in that awfully lame "Land of the Lost" remake with Will Ferrell. One movie we will see her in soon is Neil Burger's thriller "Dark Fields," which also stars Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro and Abbie Cornish.

Cooper will play a writer whose life drastically changes when he comes across a pill that enables him to access the full capacity of his brain. Just as he starts to enjoy sudden success, he realizes the drug also carries negative effects, and before he knows it, he's being pursued by a bunch of bad guys.

The Hollywood Reporter says Friel will play his ex-wife. The film is based on a novel by Alan Glynn, and Leslie Dixon wrote the script. Burger also directed "The Illusionist."
