Trailer for 'Dolphin Tale' with Morgan Freeman

Here's the new trailer for Charles Martin Smith's family drama "Dolphin Tale," which stars Morgan Freeman, among others. Looks pretty cheesy to me, but see for yourself after the jump. The film, which will show in 3D (weirdly enough), opens Sept. 23, 2011.

The story sounds just like the one in "How to Train Your Dragon." It follows a young boy who tries everything to save a dolphin that loses her tail in an accident. As a result, the boy wants a doc to create a prosthetic attachment for the poor animal.

Tha cast also includes Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson, Harry Connick Jr. and Nathan Gamble. I'm sure youngsters will find the entire thing enchanting, but I still don't understand why we'll have to see "Dolphin Tale" in 3D. Water staright into our faces, I guess...

Movie Review: "RED"

Seen on: October 16, 2010

The players: Director: Robert Schwentke, Writers: Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Cast: Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich

Facts of interest: Based on a graphic novel.

The plot: Bruce Willis plays a retired agent hunted by the CIA. As a result, he gathers his old team and attempts to stop the bad guys before they finish the job.

Our thoughts: Boasting a great cast capable of delivering both action and comedy, Robert Schwentke’s “RED” works just fine as a source of brainless big-screen entertainment. None of what the film has to offer should make you run outside proclaiming it’s the best movie of the year, but as long as you’re not taking anything in this thing too seriously, you may just have a good time with Bruce Willis and Co.

'Dolphin Tale' gets Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd

Morgan Freeman in INvictus

Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd are reviving their "High Crimes" days and will team up again to star in "Dolphin Tale," a 3D family film Charles Martin Smith will direct from a script by Karen Janszen.

Variety says the story follows an 11-year-old boy who tries everything to save a dolphin that loses her tail in an accident. The boy wants a doc to create a prosthetic attachment for the poor dolphin...

Eh... sounds a lot like "How To Train You Dragon," but whatever. Freeman is the doc, and Judd will play the boy's mother. Also starring is Harry Connick Jr., who will be playing a nice marine biologist.

Movie Review: “Invictus”

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: December 1, 2009

The players: Director: Clint Eastwood, Writer: Anthony Peckham, Cast: Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon, Tony Kgoroge, Patrick Mofokeng, Matt Stern

Facts of interest: Based on John Carlin's book.

The plot: The film tells the true story of how Nelson Mandela tried to unite his country with the help of South Africa's rugby team.

Our quick thoughts: Clint Eastwood’s “Invictus” keeps things simple in telling the true story of how Nelson Mandela tried to reunite his country through rugby, but the film is nonetheless a fascinating big-screen experience and without doubt one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. Intriguing, emotional and beautifully shot and acted, this is an instant winner.
