Ready for a 'Ghost Rider 2' update? Here it is...

The burning biker will be back soon, and here are some details about the sequel

Man, "Ghost Rider" was a terrible movie. It was a real disaster, and I think that's still a nice way of describing it. Still, a sequel is already in the works, and according to producer Michael De Luca, the follow-up may be heading into production very soon.

The folks at Collider recently ran a big interview with de Luca, and he had a bunch of new updates about the sequel. We already heard Nicolas Cage will probably be back for "Ghost Rider 2," and David S. Goyer is working on the script.

So here are some important news from Collider's interview, which you can read here. First of all, Johnson will not return to direct, which is great news. Eva Mendes will not be back either. Okay, her performance sucked in the first one, but at least she's was nice to look at.

PG-13 will be the rating they will go for (booooring), and as Cage already announed, Ghost Rider will head to Europe this time. The film could be going 3D, and it could even start shooting before this year is over. Thanks not exactly bad news.

‘Angel Heart’ gets remake treatment

Producers Michael De Luca, Alison R. Rosenzweig and Michael Gaeta are set to develop a remake of Alan Parker’s 1987 mystery thriller “Angel Heart,” according to Variety.

The original was based on William Hjortsberg’s novel “Falling Angel” and followed Harry Angel, a New York detective who encounters supernatural forces after being hired to track down a singer.

Mickey Rourke, Robert De Niro, Lisa Bonet and Charlotte Rampling starred in the 1987 version, which the trade reports “caused a stir for its steamy sex scenes.”

De Luca recently produced “21” and “The Love Guru.” He has a bunch of upcoming projects he’s currently working on, including Jim Sheridan’s “Brothers” and an untitled erotic thriller directed by Paul Verhoeven.

I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence, but “Angel Heart” is not the only Parker film to get a big-screen update. Just yesterday, we found out his 1980 Oscar-winning musical “Fame” is also heading into the remake machine.

Paul Verhoeven to direct erotic thriller

“Basic Instinct” director Paul Verhoeven is in negotiations to helm an untitled erotic thriller written by Wendy Miller, according to Variety.

The plot follows a college intern who’s trapped in a tricky affair with his boss’s wife. That’s all we know about the story line at this point.

Michael De Luca is producing the project, which Relativity Media is developing. Miller is currently rewriting the script, eyeing a production start date early next year.

Verhoeven’s directing credits also include “Showgirls” and “Starship Troopers.” De Luca produced this year’s “21” and “The Love Guru.” He is currently working on Jim Sheridan’s remake “Brothers.”

With a start date scheduled for the beginning of 2009, I’m sure we’ll soon hear more about the casting process for the flick. We will keep you posted.
