Reese Witherspoon in 'This Means War' poster

Chris Pine and Tom Hardy will try to cut each other in half in McG's upcoming action comedy "This Means War," and 20th Century Fox just debuted a new poster for the film, which also stars Reese Witherspoon, Til Schweiger and Chelsea Handler (wtf?).

The plot is fairly simple, and this is not exactly something we haven't see on the big screen yet: Two top CIA operatives (Pine and Hardy) wage an epic battle against one another after they discover they have fallen in love with the same woman.

Can't say the trailer has blown me away, but the cast looks promising and I certainly don't have anything against over-the-top action as long as it's done right. The film won't open until Feb. 17, 2012, but here is your look at the decent new poster.

Tom Hardy joins 'This Means War' cast

McG's action flick "The Means War" is still happening, but it won't happen with Sam Worthington, who was attached to the project for a while. The "Avatar" star is now gone, and the role is going to someone else.

That guy is Tom Hardy, according to Vulture. Word is Hardy has signed on to star in "War," which follows two best friends as they launch into an escalating war when they both fall in love with the same woman.

The woman is Reese Witherspoon. Chris Pine plays the other guy. Bradley Cooper was also once attached to the film, but he dropped it as well. Hardy ("RocknRolla") can currently be seen in "Inception."

McG and Amanda Seyfriend teaming up?

Production Weekly announced on Twitter that McG and Amanda Seyfried are reportedly attached to a project based on the Rolling Stone article "The Girl Who Conned The Ivy League," about how Esther Reed basically cheated her way into Harvard and Columbia. From the article: "How a high school dropout created the ultimate fake ID, scammed her way into Harvard and Columbia, and became the target of a nationwide manhunt." Read it here.

No Bradley Cooper for 'This Means War'

Bradley Cooper was supposed to join Reese Witherspoon in 20th Century Fox's upcoming action comedy "This Means War," but the "Hangover" actor is now no longer involved, according to EW. The studio says Cooper has scheduling conflicts with "The Hangover 2."

However, EW points out that a source close to the project said Cooper had trouble with some creative differences over the script, which follows two best friends launching into an escalating war when they both fall in love with the same woman.

McG, who recently directed "Terminator: Salvation," is in talks to helm, and production was set to begin early this summer. It is still unclear how Fox will handle the departure of Cooper. I'd say find a new guy asap, right? Timothy Dowling wrote the most recent draft of "War."

McG to direct action comedy 'This Means War'

McG, who recently directed "Terminator: Salvation," is now in talks to direct 20th Century Fox's upcoming "This Means War," an action comedy that may end up starring Reese Witherspoon and Bradley Cooper.

The Hollywood Reporter says the film follows two best friends who launch into an escalating war when they both fall in love with the same woman (Witherspoon). Timothy Dowling wrote the most recent draft.

Interesting fact: the project has been in development since 1998, which is obviously a bad sign. McG jumped on board after Disney shut down his remake "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo."

McG, who also delievered the two "Charlie's Angels" flicks, also directed "We Are Marshall." He's definitely got what it takes to blow up shit, and it seems this film will have tons of that as well. It sounds horrible!

Movie Review: “Terminator Salvation”

Seen on: May 21, 2009

The players: Director: McG, Writers:Anthony E. Zuiker, John Brancato, Michael Ferris, Cast: Christian Bale, Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin, Moon Bloodgood, Common

Facts of interest: McG also directed "Charlie's Angels," "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and "We Are Marshall."

The plot: John Connor (Christian Bale) leads the human resistance through the battle against the machines after Skynet has destroyed most of the world.

Our thoughts: Sure, McG’s “Terminator Salvation” is not as good as I expected, and it’s by far not as awesome as the new “Star Trek,” but I also admit I don’t really feel all the bad press the film’s been facing. I agree the fourth installment in the popular “Terminator” series has its problems, but to be honest, I found it quite entertaining.
