Wonderful new trailer for 'Nine' is vibrant

New trailer for Nine

I'm among those who absolutely adored Rob Marshall's prestigious musical "Chicago," and therefore, I'm really looking forward to his next spectacle "Nine," due in theaters everywhere Dec. 25, 2009.

A new feature trailer for the movie has debuted online, and I encourage you to check it out after the jump. No dialogue in this one, really, but instead, you're treated to great visuals and beautiful music.

In the big-screen adaptation of the Broadway show, Daniel Day-Lewis jumps into the role of Guido Contini, a high-profile director struggling to satisfy all the women in his life, including his wife and mistress.

Trailer for Chris Nolan's 'Inception' finally online

Leonardo DiCaprio in Inception trailer

How about starting the week with a really short teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's upcoming sci-fi action thriller "Inception"? You got it after the jump, and although it's super short and doesn't show much, the little footage it contains looks extravagant.

Plot details are kept under wraps, and the film is still only described as an action flick set within "the architecture of the mind." DiCaprio plays a CEO-type character, with Marion Cotillard starring as his wife. Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ken Watanabe and Tom Hardy co-star.

'Public Enemies' web reviews

Christian Bale in Public Enemies

Michael Mann returns to the big screen with "Public Enemies," a crime drama following the adventures of American bank robber John Dillinger. The film stars Johnny Depp, Marion Cotillard, Christian Bale, Billy Crudup and Stephen Dorff, and here is what the Web's critics have to say about it:

• Jeffrey M. Anderson at Cinematical: "Most scenes come with an intense immediacy, with an effective use of shaky cams and stark lighting, giving chaos an open invitation to rear its ugly head at any time."

• Brad Brevet at RopeOfSilicon: "I am leaving room for this one to grow on me or slowly settle down to the middle, but one thing's for certain, it had my wheels spinning and may likely end up an all-time classic of mine a few years down the line."

Joblo's Jenna Bush: "Great performances, great camera work, but just not engrossing."

LatinoReview's Ron Henriques: "Though 'Public Enemies' is a crime thriller, the flourishes of action and suspense are few and far between."

• Brian Orndorf at brianorndorf.com: "It’s not really any sort of dramatic feature, but merely an empty vessel for Michael Mann to spin furious circles, shedding much of the vanguard appeal that once came so easily to him."

Movie Review: “Public Enemies”

Seen on: June 29, 2009

The players: Director: Michael Mann, Writers: Michael Mann, Ronan Bennett, Ann Biderman, Cast: Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Channing Tatum, David Wenham, Billy Crudup

Facts of interest: Based on the book by Bryan Burrough.

The plot: The film tells the story of American bank robber John Dillinger (Johnny Depp), who kept the FBI pretty busy during the Great Depression.

Our thoughts: Michael Mann’s latest gangster drama “Public Enemies” is both intriguing and dull. The film works just fine as a big-budget production highlighting John Dillinger’s spectacular escapes, wild shoot-outs with the FBI and fast-paced robberies, but as an examination of the man’s character and the key players around him, it clearly fails.

Marion Cotillard boards Canet's 'Petits Mouchoirs'

Marion Cotillard in La vie en rose

The beautiful and talented Oscar-winning Marion Cotillard is set to star in Guillaume Canet's upcoming dramedy "Les Petits Mouchoirs." Written by Canet, the film centers on a group of friends whose vacation trip takes a turn for the worse when they start confessing their deepest concerns. "Mouchoirs" already boasts a top-notch cast, including Francois Cluzet, Benoit Magimel, Anne Marivin, Gilles Lelouche and Jean Dujardin.

Canet celebrated international success last year with his thriller "Tell No One" (Ne le dis à personne). His other directorial credits include "Mon idole" (Anything You Say). As for the great Cotillard, she won an Oscar for her portrayal as Edith Piaf in "La môme" (La vie en rose). She has some highly interesting projects lined up, including "Nine" and "Inception."
