International trailer for 'Little Fockers'

A brand-new international trailer for "Little Fockers" is now online, and you can check it out below. Paul Weitz directed the third film in the "Meet the Parents" series, and the flick opens Dec. 22, 2010.

Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner, Teri Polo, Oweb Wilson and Barbra Streisand are back in action, and the story follows Greg as he tries to manage his family and deal with a holiday visit by Jack.

The first teaser trailer failed to win me over, and to be totally honest, this new trailer doesn't exactly lift my expectations either. Let's just hope they've got some funny stuff they're keeping for the movie.

'Little Fockers' gets a so-so teaser trailer

Jack and Greg are back! Paul Weitz's "Little Fockers" is set to open in theaters Dec. 22, 2010, and a first teaser trailer for the upcoming comedy sequel is now online and you can check it out right after the jump.

To add my two cents right away, I admit this first preview didn't exactly impress me a lot. I'm a big fan of the two previous films in the series, but for some reason, this doesn't look very funny or original to me.

But who knows, maybe they just want to keep the funny stuff for the movie. The cast, at least, is promising, with Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner, Teri Polo, Oweb Wilson and Barbra Streisand returning.

John Hamburg gives 'Little Fockers' update

Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Teri Polo and Blythe Danner are all expected to return for "Little Fockers," the latest sequel to the popular "Meet the Parents" comedy. Here are the latest news:

IGN recently caught up with screenwriter John Hamburg, and the writer/director said he's currently rewriting a script by Larry Stuckey. He also had this to say about the plot of the follow-up to "Meet the Fockers":

"We're catching up with these characters five years later and Pam and Greg have twins so they are dealing with that. And people are dealing with where there at in their lives, and themes of death and divorce and all these real things that as we get older, we start to think about, but in a really comic way."

Hamburg also told IGN that Owen Wilson will have a bigger role in the film. As for Jay Roach, who helmed the first two films, he will not return to direct because he's currently focusing on "Dinner for Schmucks" instead.

By the way, Hamburg also pointed out that he's thinking about doing a sequel to the recent comedy "I Love You, Man." Read more here.

Paul Weitz to direct Universal's 'Little Fockers'?

Could Universal Pictures possibly have found a director for its upcoming sequel "Little Fockers"? Maybe.

According to Variety, Paul Weitz is currently in talks to direct the third installment in the popular series, which will already head into prodcution in July.

Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Teri Polo and Blythe Danner are expected to star in the sequel to "Meet the Parents" and "Meet the Fockers." John Hamburg recently rewrote an original script by Larry Stuckey.

Peter Segal, whose credits include "Get Smart," "The Longest Yard" and "50 First Dates," has been rumored to direct the film for a while, but I guess Weitz is now the front-runner.

Jay Roach, who helmed the first two films, will not return to direct because he's currently focusing on "Dinner for Schmucks" instead.

Weitz's credits include "American Dreamz," "In Good Company" and "About a Boy." He most recently directed "Cirque du Freak," which is set to open in 2010.

Peter Segal to direct 'Little Fockers'?

We recently learned Universal is moving ahead with the development of "Little Fockers."

According to Variety, one of the hottest contestants to direct the film is Peter Segal, whose credits include "Get Smart," "The Longest Yard" and "50 First Dates."

Universal has hired John Hamburg to write the screenplay. Jay Roach, who helmed the first two films, will not return to direct because he's currently focusing on "Dinner for Schmucks" instead.

Nothing is known about the plot at this stage, but what we do know is that Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro and Owen Wilson are expected to star in the film.

Segal is also expected to direct "Get Smart 2" in the near future. He also helmed "Anger Management" and "Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult."

'Little Fockers' moving ahead at Universal

As you may have heard already, there will be a third installment in the popular franchise that started with "Meet the Parents" in 2000 and continued with "Meet the Fockers" in 2004.

Although we haven't heard or read that much about the project for a while now, Universal is apparently fast-tracking the sequel.

At least that's what Steven Zeitchik is reporting at Risky Biz Blog. He writes Universal has hired John Hamburg to write the screenplay. Larry Stuckey wrote an early draft.

Hamburg also worked on the previous "Focker" flicks, and he also directed the dreadful "Along Came Polly. His next flick, "I Love You, Man," will open March 20, 2009.

Zeitchik also reports Jay Roach, who helmed the first two films, will not return to direct. Apparently, he will focus on "Dinner for Schmucks" instead.
