Daily news dose: Kevin James is 'Zookeeper;' Darko secures rights to 'Fade'

Here's your dose of quick news bits for Jan. 8, 2009...

• Kevin James will star in Walt Becker's comedy "Zookeeper," the actor told ComingSoon recently: "I play a zookeeper—another guy in a uniform, no moustache in this one, we may go very bushy sideburns—I don't even know, but it's in the beginning stages of that." James will next be seen in "Paul Blart: Mall Cop."

• Darko Entertainment has acquired the big-screen rights for Robert Cormier's "Fade," a novel about a 13-year-old who finds out he has the ability to fade. Of course, he soon learns how dangerous his powers can be. Adam Prince is set to write the script. (Variety)

• Lena Headey, who stars as Sarah Connor on television's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," will make her directing debut with "Kill Drug," a thriller "about an underground society dedicated to murdering society’s ingrates, nincompoops and scallywags." (Empire Online)

• The Razzies are coming up soon, and among the nominees for Worst Picture are "Disaster Movie," "Speed Racer," "The Love Guru," "Rambo," "Meet Dave" and "Witless Protection." Zac Efron, Dane Cook, Larry the Cable Guy, Eddie Murphy, Al Pacino, Keanu Reeves are among those competing for Worst Actress. (Razzies)
