Kevin Smith unveils 'Red State' poster

Kevin Smith is wrapping up his upcoming horror film "Red State," and to celebrate the end of shooting, etc., he debuted the film's teaser poster on his website. You can check out the one-sheet after the jump.

Essentially, "Red State" is a horror film in which a group of misfits encounter fundamentalism gone to the extreme in Middle America. Kyle Gallner, John Goodman, Melissa Leo and Michael Angarano star.

Smith said, "But this piece of artwork (I call it “The Holy Ghost”) didn’t come from a top-tier ad agency: Jon Gordon is my RED STATE producer, and this poster was created by his assistant, Melissa Bloom."

Movie Review: "A Nightmare on Elm Street"

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: April 30, 2010

The players: Director: Samuel Bayer, Writers: Eric Heisserer, Wesley Strick, Cast: Jackie Earle Haley, Kyle Gallner, Rooney Mara, Katie Cassidy, Thomas Dekker

Facts of interest: Produced by Michael Bay.

The plot: Freddy Krueger returns to haunt a bunch of youngsters in their sleep. Meanwhile, they try to stay awake.

Our thoughts: With “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” New Line Cinema has created an unnecessary horror remake that desperately tries to use plenty of cheap scares and the popularity of a classic movie character to keep cinemagoers entertained for a dreadful 95 minutes. To tell you the truth, there is absolutely no need for this film to exist, and I doubt it will be around for long.  At least I hope it won’t.

Visually, the new 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' trailer delivers

Bath scene in Nightmare on Elm Street remake

I'm not a fan of remakes. I say it over and over again, but it's the truth. Another flick pulled through the remake machine in Hollywood is "A Nightmare on Elm Street," and a brand-new feature trailer for the Samuel Bayer-directed horror film is now online.

Now, visually, it looks intriguing for sure. I like the lighting in these shots, and it looks like they managed to deliver some decent effects as well. The atmosphere seems creepy enough, and I'm liking the look of Freddy Krueger. His voice though? Not so much.

The great Jackie Earle Haley will be playing Krueger, a ruthless killer who sneaks into people's dreams and kills them while they're sleeping. Michael Bay is a producer on the flick, and I know that doesn't sound all too promising. But who knows... it may be entertaining.

New pics from 'Nightmare on Elm Street' remake

Warner Bros. just released three new photos from Samuel Bayer's upcoming horror remake "A Nightmare on Elm Street," which will make its way to theaters April 30, 2010. Check them out above and below.

Jackie Earle Haley plays Freddy Krueger, the ruthless killer who sneaks into people's dreams and kills them while they're sleeping. Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Thomas Dekker and Kellan Lutz co-star.

A first trailer debuted back in September, and although it failed ot impress me, I admit I am quite excited to see Haley take over this role. He's just the right guy to play Krueger. See the trailer here.

'A Nightmare on Elm Street' trailer hits!

Freddy Krueger is back in action in Samuel Bayer's upcoming flick of "A Nightmare on Elm Street," and the first trailer for the remake of the 1984 horror classic has officially debuted online. Check it out after the jump.

The great Jackie Earle Haley will be playing Krueger, a ruthless killer who sneaks into people's dreams and kills them while they're sleeping. I'm not digging the idea of a remake, but I'm stoked they picked Haley as Freddy.

The "Elm Street" remake has Michael Bay written all over it, and that's what scares me a bit. I can only hope this one won't look and feel as disappointing as the recent Bay-produced "Friday the 13th" reboot.

Kyle Gallner moves to 'A Nightmare on Elm Street'

Kyle Gallner, who actually pulled off a rather decent performance in the completely unnecessary horror thriller "The Haunting in Connecticut," will join the cast of New Line Cinema's "A Nightmare on Elm Street" reboot.

As I'm sure you've read or heard by now, Jackie Earle Haley, who recently played Rorschach in Zack Snyder's "Watchmen" will play bad boy Freddy Krueger, the famous killer who slips into the dreams of teenagers.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Gallner will portray a teen who hosts a high school podcast and ends up being one of Krueger's victims. The film will be directed by Samuel Bayer ("Fiasco Heights")

Gallner's credits also include "CSI: NY," "Veronica Mars" and "The Shield." He will also soon be seen in "Cherry" and the Diabo Cody-scripted horror flick "Jennifer's Body."
