'Enchanted' director to work with Hugh Jackman

Kevin Lima, the guy who brought us "Enchanted," is in talks to direct the upcoming Hugh Jackman comedy "Avon Man" for 20th Century Fox. The film is rumored to have a "Full Monty" vibe to it.

Variety says "Avon Man" could shoot in a couple of months. Ineed, Jackman's schedule is already busy, with the filming of "Real Steel" starting early this summer. Jackman boarded "Man" last summer.

Written by Kevin Bisch ("Hitch"), the film follows a guy who loses his job and decides he'll try and make some money selling maeup. He also tries to support his family by trying to win a regional sales contest.

Universal to bring 'Candy Land' to big screen

Now that you've played all those Hasbro games, how about watching them on the big screen?

Universal is currently developing a movie version of "Candy Land," one of many of Hasbro's popular racing board games.

Etan Cohen, whose credits include "Tropic Thunder" and "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa," is set to write the screenplay.

Directing the live-action film is Kevin Lima, the guy who also helmed 1999's "Tarzan," "102 Dalmatians" and "Enchanted."

I don't know much about this game, but from what I've read it involves some characters trying to find the lost king of Candy Land. Or something like that.

"Candy Land" is certainly not the only board game to come to the big screen. Last November, Ridley Scott announced he will direct a film version based on "Monopoly." "Battleship" and "Ouija" are also in development.

What do you do in Hollywood when original ideas run out? You adapt everything there is tp adapt, like it or not...

Warner to develop live-action ‘Tom Thumb’

Warner Bros. and Red Wagon are all set to develop “Tom Thumb,” a live-action flick based on the English folklore character, according to Variety.

The trade says the story is centered on an arrogant knight who's shrunk to 6 inches while assigned to protect a princess and then discovers what it means to be a real hero.

Robert Rodat, screenwriter of “Saving Private Ryan” and “The Patriot,” will pen the script. Kevin Lima, who most recently helmed “Enchanted,” is directing.

Warner apparently wants “Tom” to appeal to audiences worldwide. The little character first emerged in the 16th century.
