'Thor 2' gets release date!

Marvel is pretty happy with the current $430+ million gross of "Thor," which is why the studio is already moving ahead with a sequel. "Thor 2" is currently set for release July 26, 2013, but the big surprise is that Kenneth Branagh will not return to direct.

According to Deadline though, this doesn't mean Branagh will not be involved. In fact, it seems like he could return in some producting role. Details are scarce though, but lead actor Chris Hemsworth will be back to reprise his role as Thor. That much we know.

From Marvel: "The epic adventure "Thor" spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard.  At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war.

Stuart Townsend leaves 'Thor;' replacement found

Mr. Townsend is mad and leaves 'Thor' one day before the shoot. He's already been replaced

Actor Stuart Townsend has not been pleased with the way things are going on Kenneth Branagh's upcoming Marvel flick "Thor," and that is why he has officially dropped out of the project. Creative differences be blamed!

The Hollywood Reporter says Townsend took off one day before shooting starts. A replacement has already be found, and the guy taking over is Joshua Dallas ("The Descent: Part 2"). Townsend was set to play Fandral, one of Thor's allies.

The film follows partially disabled medical student Dr. Donald Blake (Chris Hemsworth), who discovers his alter ego, the Norse god Thor. "Thor" is slated for release May 20, 2011. The cast also includes Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Kat Dennings and Stellan Skarsgård.

Dallas is also set to star in the George Lucas-produced "Red Tails." Townsend's credits also include "About Adam," "Queen of the Damned" and "Trapped."

Movie Review: “Pirate Radio”

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: November 5, 2009

The players: Director: Richard Curtis, Writer: Richard Curtis, Cast: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans, Nick Frost, Kenneth Branagh

Facts of interest: Richard Curtis also directed "Love, Actually."

The plot: A group of radio pirates broadcast rock 'n' roll from a boat in the North Atlantic while the British government tries to shut them down.

Our thoughts: Board Richard Curtis’ new comedy “Pirate Radio” (formerly “The Boat That Rocked”), and you’re in for more than two hours of great rock ‘n’ roll and fabulous acting performances. The film is by no means perfect, but I admit it’s definitely not as terrible as some critics out there made it out to be.
