Fox's 'Tooth Fairy' gets quite an awful trailer

Dwayne Johnson does another family film, and it looks awful. I'm talking about Fox's upcoming Michael Lembeck-directed comedy "Tooth Fairy," which today received its first official trailer. See it after the jump.

In the film, Johnson plays Derek Thompson, a mean but talented minor-league hockey player who carries the nickname "Tooth Fairy" because he takes pleasure in ruthlessly knocking out his opponents’ teeth.

Billy Crystal returns to action in ‘Tooth Fairy’

It’s been a while since we last saw Billy Crystal in a live-action flick, but the actor is set to return for an appearance in Michael Lembeck’s comedy “Tooth Fairy,” according to Variety.

Crystal joins Dwayne Johnson, who plays a minor-league hockey player who carries the nickname ‘Tooth Fairy’ because he takes pleasure in knocking out his opponents’ teeth.

In a sudden turn of events, however, he is ordered to real tooth fairy duty, which includes wearing wings, makeup, a wand and tutu.

Also on board are Ashley Judd, Ryan Sheckler, Stephen Merchant and Julie Andrews.

The last time we saw Crystal on the big screen was in 2002’s comedy “Analyze That.” After that, he did some voice work on “Cars” and the English version of “Howl’s Moving Castle.”

Although I’m sure he’ll play a minor role in “Fairy,” it’s good to have him back.

Julie Andrews boards ‘Tooth Fairy’

Actress Julie Andrews has signed on to star alongside Dwayne Johnson and Ashley Judd in Fox’ upcoming comedy “Tooth Fairy,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Johnson plays Derek Thompson, a minor-league hockey player who carries the nickname ‘Tooth Fairy’ because he takes pleasure in knocking out his opponents’ teeth.

In a sudden turn of events, however, Thompson is ordered to real tooth fairy duty, which includes wearing wings, makeup, a wand and tutu.

Judd plays his girlfriend, while Andrews stars as a supervisor with the Tooth Fairy Department. Also joining the cast are Stephen Merchant (who is assigned to Derek's case) and famous skateboarder Ryan Sheckler (who stars as a hockey player).

Michael Lembeck, whose credits include “The Santa Clause 2,” is directing script by Lowell Ganz, Babaloo Mandel, Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia.

Andrews was last seen on the big screen in “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.” She’s best known for her enchanting role as the lead character of 1964’s “Mary Poppins.”
