Franck Tabouring Warner Bros. is set to develop a big-screen version of the popular Hanna-Barbera classic cartoon “Yogi Bear,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Ash Brannon, co-director of “Surf’s Up,” is directing the project, which Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia (“Tooth Fairy”) are writing.
The trade reports the project will be a mix of CGI and live-action, much in the same way as the recent “Alvin and the Chipmunks.” In other words, Yogi and Boo-Boo will be computer-animated.
Yogi Bear first appeared in “The Huckleberry Hound Show” before getting his own show in 1961.
This definitely sounds like a nice idea, although I am not sure the CGI/live-action mix is such an awesome idea. Those chipmunks in “Alvin” just looked like crap to me. Let’s hope they put more effort into this.
