Trailer for '50/50' cancer comedy debuts

Jonathan Levine's new comedy "50/50" looks pretty intriguing, as you can see for yourself in the trailer after the jump. The film, about a young man who learns he has cancer, stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard and Anjelica Huston.

Will Reiser, who battled cancer himself, penned the script, and early reviews from people who have seen the film indicate it's quite an honest and touching little film. I'm looking forward to it very much myself. Like I said, check out the trailer below. Doesn't this look quite promising?

Emily Blunt joins Bruce Willis in 'Looper'

Emily Blunt is ready for some time-travel action. Blunt, who also stars in the upcoming "The Adjustment Bureau," has joined Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Rian Johnson's "Looper."

The film is an action flick in the time-travel genre. THR says the film follows Levitt as a Looper, a killer getting rid of people from the future. When he sees himself as a victim in the future, he goes nuts.

Okay, not exactly nuts, but he lets himself escape first before deciding to kill his future self in order to survive. it all sounds crazy confusing, but I admit I'm intrigued to see how it plays out in the end.

Movie Review: "Inception"

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Seen on: July 12, 2010

The players: Director: Christopher Nolan, Writer: Christopher Nolan, Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ken Watanabe

The plot: DiCaprio plays a man who specializes in extraction - stealing secrets from deep within someone's mind while they are asleep.

Our thoughts: Christopher Nolan’s utterly brilliant sci-fi thriller “Inception” is undoubtedly the best blockbuster of the year, and it will go down as one of the most original movies of the new decade. It also goes down in history as one of the most mesmerizing big-screen experiences I’ve ever had, because there’s not one scene in this masterpiece that won’t blow your mind. It’s THE movie to see this summer!

Casting alert: Michael Shannon in 'Premium Rush'

Michael Shannon is awesome

Oscar-nominated actor Michael Shannon, who briefly shows up in the disastrous "Jonah Hex," is boarding "Premium Rush," a thriller starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Jamie Chung is also part of the flick.

Written by David Koepp, who is also directing, the film follows a bike messenger who gets chansed by a ruthless cop because he's transporting a mysterious envelope. Shannon would play the cop, of course.

The Hollywood Reporter says Chung would be playing Gordon-Levitt's ex. John Kamps co-wrote the script. Shannon scored an Oscar nomination for his awesome performance in "Revolutionary Road.

• David Slade, who directed "Hard Candy" and "30 Days of Night," and who recently signed on to helm “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” is also in talks to direct “Cold Skin,” a horror thriller based on Albert Sanchez Pinol’s Spanish novel. Jesus Olmo wrote the screenplay for the project, which is scheduled to shoot in March. (Variety)

• The swine flu continues the delay of major blockbusters in Mexico, and the latest film to fall victim to the outbreak is "Terminator Salvation," which Sony has now postponed to July 31, 2009. The film was originally expected to open in Mexico June 5. Other delayed releases include "Angels & Demons" and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." (Variety)

I'm sure we;ll hear more about this soon.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt boards Nolan's 'Inception'

Joseph Gordon-Levitt joins Inception.Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who delivered some solid performances in "Brick" and "The Lookout," among others, is set to star in Christopher Nolan's upcoming sci-fi thriller "Inception," according to the Hollywood Reporter. Plot details are kept under wraps, and the film is still only described as an action flick set within "the architecture of the mind." Whatever that means...

Also on-board already are Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard and Cillian Murphy. Oh yeah, and before I forget, we do know a little bit more about their characters. DiCaprio plays a CEO-type kind of guyPa, and Cotillard is his wife. ge stars as a grad student, and Gordon-Levitt is some kind of associate of DiCaprio's character.

I know this seems all blurry right now, but with Nolan on-board and a cast that really looks good, I'm sure "Inception" will be quite the intriguing experience. The film, by the way, is set for release July 16, 2010. As far as Gordon-Levitt is concerned, he's soon be seen in "(500) Days of Summer" and "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra."
